Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has continued to spruce up its UFC 149 pay-per-view (PPV) fight card for the ScotiaBank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, on July 21, 2012.
Next in line, via the promotion's official Canadian Twitter account, is a 145-pound match-up pitting the struggling George Roop against promotion sophomore Antonio Carvalho.
Roop (9-1) got on the fast-track to bigger and better things by knocking out top featherweight prospect Josh Grispi at The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 13 Finale in June 2011; however, he was unable to capitalize on that big win and has since dropped consecutive fights to Hatsu Hioki and Cub Swanson.
Like Roop, Carvalho (13-5) is also hoping to rebound from a recent defeat.
His Octagon debut didn't exactly go as planned, dropping a unanimous decision to Felip Arantes at UFC 142 earlier this year. The loss snapped a three-fight winning streak for "Pato."
Perhaps a trip to his native Canada will change his luck.
UFC 149 is expected to feature a main event that includes featherweight Champion Jose Aldo against a soon-to-be-announced opponent. Match-ups of Court McGee vs. Nick Ring and Bryan Caraway vs. Mitch Gagnon have also been confirmed.
