Welterweight war on free TV? Sounds good, no?

That's what we'll be getting (possibly) on June 8, 2011, when vested veteran Charlie Brenneman takes on hot up-and-coming Brazilian powerhouse Erick Silva at the UFC on FX 3 event.

Globo SporTV brought word of the possible match-up just yesterday.

Brenneman is coming into the bout on the strength of a unanimous decision win over Daniel Roberts at the very first UFC on FX event back on Jan. 20 in Nashville. This after he was plastered by the heavyset Anthony Johnson.

Can he start up another winning streak to kick off the summer?

Silva, if you remember, was last seen obliterating Carlo Prater at UFC 142. It didn't count as a win, though, because referee Mario Yamasaki determined that Silva had landed too many shots to the back of Prater's head and the result was a disqualification loss.

Still, the dude looks like a beast and a win over Brenneman would catapult him straight up the 170-pound ladder and on to bigger and better things.

UFC on FX 3 is also expected to feature a flyweight tournament rematch that pits Demetrious Johnson vs. Ian McCall, as well as two exciting Welterweight bouts between Mike Pierce vs. Carlos Eduardo Rocha and Mike Pyle vs. Josh Neer.
