Strikeforce female champion Ronda Rousey will have to wait a little while longer to beat up on the boyfriend of Miesha Tate.
That's because Mr. Tate Bryan Caraway has been booked to take on Mitch Gagnon in a Bantameight bout scheduled to take place at UFC 149 from the ScotiaBank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, on July 22, 2012.
"Showdown Joe" passed along the pending fight announcement earlier this afternoon.
Caraway is fresh off a submission win in his Octagon debut, strangling Dustin Neace with a rear naked choke at The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 14 Finale in Dec. 2011. "Kid Lightning" was bounced off the TUF show in the semifinals by eventual tournament winner, Diego Brandao, via knockout.
Gagnon, a Canadian, was supposed to make his debut for the mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion against Johnny Bedford at UFC on Fox 2 earlier this year; however, visa issues forced the cancelation of the bout. He is a submission specialist who has finished his last six opponents via tapout. In fact, all of his eight professional career victories have come via submission.
UFC 149 is expected to feature a main event that includes Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo against a soon-to-be-announced opponent. No other bouts are scheduled for the UFC 149 fight card at this time.
