Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) recently announced an exciting Bantamweight brawl between Scott Jorgensen vs. Eddie Wineland, which is planned to take place on June 8, 2012, at a time and place to be determined.
That's because the UFC on FX 3 location and venue will be determined by Harley-Davidson's Hometown Throwdown contest in the near future.
Jorgensen, a former number one-ranked 135-pound championship contender, most recently had a two-fight winning streak snapped to the sensational Renan Barao, dropping a unanimous decision to the super talented Brazilian at UFC 143 just last month.
"Young Guns" was on a straight path to earning a rematch with division champion Dominick Cruz prior to the setback, which he'll look to correct against the first-ever World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) bantamweight champion.
Wineland is also looking to get back in the win column, losing back-to-back unanimous decisions to Team Alpha Male top dogs, Urijah Faber and Joseph Benavidez, respectively. He entered the world's mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion with high hopes back in Dec. 2010; however, he has yet to pick up a win inside the Octagon.
And he'll have to take on another former top division contender to get it done.
UFC on FX 3 is also expected to feature a flyweight tournament rematch that pits Demetrious Johnson vs. Ian McCall, as well as two exciting Welterweight bouts between Mike Pierce vs. Carlos Eduardo Rocha and Mike Pyle vs. Josh Neer.
