A "Juggernaut" and a "Hitman" are coming to "Sin City" to tango.
That's because the UFC today announced that Jake Ellenberger will square off against Martin Kampmann in the main event of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 15 Finale scheduled for June 1, 2012, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
And yes, it will be a five-round showcase, as will all main events going forward. No more doubt this time around.
That wasn't the case in Ellenberger's last fight, a unanimous decision win over Diego Sanchez at UFC on FUEL TV. In front of his hometown fans, the welterweight standout battered "The Dream" for two full rounds, dominating the majority of the action.
But he faded fast in the third and was nearly finished. Had there been two more rounds, there's no telling if this match-up is ever made. Thankfully, UFC President Dana White admitted to his mistake and immediately implemented the new system.
Speaking of close calls, Martin Kampmann was well on his way to losing a decision in his last fight after an uninspiring performance for the first 14 minutes of his battle against Thiago Alves.
But that left one minute for the Dane to lock in a guillotine choke that secured the submission win.
With the list of potential title challengers at 170-pounds not as long as times past, this could very well be a number one contender bout by the time it comes around.
We shall see.
TUF 15 Finale goes down on June 1 in Las Vegas, Nevada. In addition to Ellenberger vs. Kampmann, the finalists from season 15 of the long running reality show will compete for the six-figure contract, whomever they may be.
