New Jersey native Nick Catone will welcome Chris Camozzi to the "Garden State" when the two collide in a Middleweight showdown that is planned to take place at UFC on FX 4 from the Revel Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City on June 22, 2012.
MMADieHards.com passed along the pending fight announcement earlier this evening.
Catone, who fights out of Englewood, N.J., which is about as far as you can get from the "Las Vegas of the East" within the state, is riding a two-fight win streak inside the Octagon after starting his tenure with the mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion with a win and then back-to-back losses.
The "Jersey Devil" earned a split decision over Jesse Forbes at UFC Fight Night 20 way back in Jan. 2010 and scored a unanimous nod from the judges in his most recent appearance over Constantinos Philippou in March 2011. Catone has sustained numerous injuries that have forced him out of fights against John Salter, Tomasz Drwal, Aaron Simpson and Dan Miller, among others, throughout his stint with the UFC.
He'll want to try his best to stay healthy for this one, considering it's in front of a hometown crowd and he's been on the shelf for more than one year.
Camozzi, meanwhile, has competed six times during that same span, winning four of them, which includes an appearance under the Shark Fights banner.
Since returning to the Octagon in Oct. 2011, Camozzi has dropped a decision to Francis Carmont at UFC 137 and submitted Dustin Jacoby at UFC on FOX 2 earlier this year.
"Kamikaze" will certainly be out to play the role of spoiler on fight night, looking to make a splash in the competitive 185-pound division.
UFC on FX 4 will feature a Lightweight showdown between Gray Maynard vs. Clay Guida in the main even of the evening. No other UFC on FX 4 bouts besides the two already mentioned in this post are known at this time.
