"Barao" is "Hellbound."
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) continues to plug holes in its upcoming UFC 148 pay-per-view (PPV) fight card, this time penciling in a bantamweight brouhaha featuring Renan Pegado as he takes on Jeff Hougland on July 7, 2012 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The promotion announced the 135-pound affair earlier today.
Pegado (28-1) has strung together a mind-blowing unbeaten streak of 31 fights, dating back to a unanimous decision loss to Joao Paulo Rodrigues de Souza way back in April of 2005. Since then, he's managed to rack up 28 wins (with one no contest) including a judges' nod over division contender Scott Jorgensen at UFC 143 just last month.
Could he be the heir to the 135-pound throne?
Standing in his way is Hougland (10-4), who got off to a rocky start in his mixed martial arts (MMA) career (1-4) before turning things around and stringing together nine straight wins. His most recent victory came in his Octagon debut at UFC 132 last July.
Does he have the skills to stymie Pegado?
UFC 148 is expected to feature a bantamweight title fight between TUF 15 coaches (and bitter rivals) Dominick Cruz and Urijah Faber, in addition to middleweight match-ups between Rich Franklin vs. Cung Le and Tim Boetsch vs. Michael Bisping.
