Cung Le planning return to MMA 'this year'

Former Strikeforce Middleweight Champion Cung Le, who was turned inside out by Wanderlei Silva in the co-main event of UFC 139: "Henderson vs. Shogun" back on Nov. 19, 2011, at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California, is looking to bet back into action "this year," according to a tweet from the part-time movie star.
After a strong first round that saw Le rattle his Brazilian foe with an arsenal of flashy kicks, the San Shou striker ran out of steam, allowing Silva to unleashed a flurry of knees and punches that forced the technical knockout stoppage at 4:49 of the second stanza.
Le promptly cried foul, blaming a flurry of punches to the back of the head as the catalyst to the bout's violent ending. Whatever the case may be, his doctor recently cleared him for contact training and we may now get to see him back inside the cage sooner rather than later.
And at $350,000 an appearance, plus Twitter bonuses, it's probably hard to justify a decision to remain inactive while Hollywood plots its next move.

I would say Akiyama if he was still at MW. With Leben out, I can't think of a fun fight where the other guy won't blanket him.
Maybe Belcher. Some might consider Le a step down for Belcher at this point though.

but yeah, you’re right. Can’t overlook the possibility of Sakara surviving a round or 2 and shellacking Le though. The way he’s lost his fights it always seems like a possibility against a good puncher.

Belcher vs Le would be good I was thinking that too but I think Belcher is coming off a W. Maybe Bisping? Not sure who to put him against but Cung can wrestle too he is not just a flashy kicker. He has good slams and takedown defense. Not sure about his jits. Is Cote still around?
Bisping is too high up on the ladder to fight Cung

You don't have to be top 10 to be overrated
I recall a slew of people wanting to see him fight Anderson, and several of them thinking Le had a pretty good chance of winning. Aside from that there were plenty that wanted to see him go over to the UFC earlier, and that he’d do well there. Sounds like overrating to me.
And yeah, nothing wrong with losing to Wanderlei. He’s over the hill and his chin is deteriorated, but people for get it wasn’t that long ago that he beat Bisping, who some people think should be fighting Anderson Silva instead of Chael.

Cung’s striking is on the elite level, no reason to be ranking or hating on the guy, just match him up with another striker and enjoy the show. People can talk shit on him all they want about the Scott Smith fight or the Wand fight but those were good, entertaining fights.

Cung Le’s biggest win was against Frank Shammrock. He also only has 2 losses 1 of which he avenged and the other to Wanderlie and it was a great fight. This guy is ot the most over rated fighter ever not even close. That title belongs to Randy followed by Tim Syvia and then Dan Hardy
