BAMMA 9: Jack Marshman vs. Tom Watson booked for March 24 in Birmingham

(Feb. 9, 2012) BAMMA, Europe's leading Mixed Martial Arts promotion, is excited to announce that BAMMA-Lonsdale's British Middleweight Champion, Jack Marshman, is set to challenge Tom 'Kong' Watson for the BAMMA World Middleweight belt at BAMMA 9.
BAMMA 9 takes place on Saturday 24th March at Birmingham's National Indoor Arena.
BAMMA's Middleweight champs have made waves as two of the promotion's most iconic faces. Etched into UK mainstream memory as the man who beat Alex Reid at BAMMA 4, World Middleweight Champ Tom Watson is known by fight fans for his catalogue of tough victories over fighters that include the UFC's John Maguire at BAMMA 1 and Maurilo Rua whom he famously blasted into retirement at BAMMA 6.
BAMMA-Lonsdale's British Middleweight Champion and serving British Armed Forces Afghan vet, Jack Marshman comes into the fight undefeated with a record of 10-0-0. Marshman wowed audiences at BAMMA 7 with his tremendous heart, after he came back from a sustained Ground 'n' Pound battering at the hands of Carl Noon, turning fortune around at the final hour to secure an unforgettable victory.
Marshman went on to a three round war at BAMMA 8 in which he defeated title challenger Leeroy Barnes, who will be also fighting at BAMMA 9 against Nick Nembhard. The clash between BAMMA's World Middleweight and British Middleweight champions is bound to have fight fans on the edge of their seats.
BAMMA Matchmaker, Jude Samuel, says:
"It's great to see Tom Watson back in action at BAMMA to defend his title after time out due to injury. It's a true testament to his gritty and hardworking character that he has stood up to the challenge of Jack Marshman. Jack will be looking to take advantage of Tom's inactivity, but ring rust is something that Watson has never suffered from; while Jack, on the other hand, has been extremely busy over the past 7 months, honing his skills for such a test. This makes for a very interesting and explosive fight as both men are putting so much on the line."

I've been in some bad spots, I almost died one time
Woke up, didn’t know wtf I was or how I got there. My arm was stuck under this bitch and I couldn’t get it out. She was massive, I tried pulling until it felt like my arm was gonna come out of it’s socket. Couldn’t wake her up either cause the bitch went into hibernation that morning. 3 days… for 3 days I survived on nothing but the scraps of bacon bits, cheddar cheese and fried chicken I could salvage from inbetween her rolls. My only friend during that dark time was a little green tennis ball on the edge of the ruined, nasty looking dresser next to the giant haystack I was laying on. I called him Yongkang Feiyun. Yongkang was always there for me… keeping me calm, talking up my confidence. It was Yong that spotted the ink pen just within my reach and came up with the plans, diagrams and blue prints that I canvased all over this bitch’s back to use a system of levers and pulley’s to free myself.
I’d studied the ancient pyramids of Egypt and how they moved the giant stones miles with no technology by watching a shit load of Ancient Aliens on the history channel. So between me and Yongkang, we had a pretty good idea of what it was gonna take to move this bitch.
I worked tirelessly on my plans. Fended off the rats nibbling at my feet by constantly kicking and throwing the bare chicken bones I could find from inbetween the rolls. I didn’t sleep much.. when I did finally finish the plans and I was ready for Yongkang to get the supplies and build this thing I felt a tremor..
Something gutteral… something nasty. Sure enough her ass exploded and it was a combination of the resulting blastwave and the odor that knocked me unconscious.. When I came to, Yongkang was gone.. He’d been knocked off the table by the shockwave and he’d rolled into a small propane space heater and burned to death. All I could do was look on in horror, tears streaming down my face. “Why god? Why him?” Was all I could think.
I was desperate, I had to find a way out. So I smothered the exposed part of my shoulder in as much cheddar as I could find and let the rats go to work gnawing my arm away. It was the most painful thing I’d ever experienced, especially when they got to the bone but it wasn’t nearly as painful as losing my friend, Yongkang…
When I finally got out I branded my stump closed with the propane heater and built the system I’d designed to get what was left of my arm out from under this bitch. The doctors managed to re-attach it but because of the rats some of the material was just lost.. That’s why, my left arm is just a little bit shorter than my right arm.
