Why the Condit-Diaz Rematch Will Be Different This Time
This was originally a comment, but I wanted to hear people's thoughts and no one responded.
Two words: ground game.
1) Diaz told him he was up 3-1 going into the 5th.
2) Diaz got his back off the takedown within 5 seconds.
3) Diaz doesn’t want to take any chances, and he knows he won’t get the KO so he’ll go for a sub.
I’m sure that if Diaz knew how behind he was on the scoring, he’d have gone for a TD much earlier. I’m sure that Diaz now thinks he has what it takes to get the sub. And I’m completely sure that Diaz will not be taking any risks with Cecil People’s “judgment”.
I'm not sure exactly what Condit will do. He might try to go for the KO this time, he might try to wrestle and do some gnp, he might go for the sub himself. One thing I know he's not gonna do is do the Greg Jackson stuff this time around after the reaction he got. But Diaz? His gameplan is going to be radically different this time. I'm looking forward to it.
