Just a note.
Sadly I didn’t get to watch the fight so I don’t have an opinion on who won.
. . .
But.
. . .
I know there’s a long history of fights in Boxing (and probably MMA) where the fighter with the higher volume of strikes did not win despite the statistical gap in strikes.

This wasn't one of those fights

Though, with that being said, that’s not even my actual point with that joke. Whether somebody thinks Condit or Diaz won, the implication that the guy who threw more strikes in the fight just ran and didn’t come to fight is so laughably silly.

Diaz wanted the fight on the cage, Condit wanted it in the middle. Diaz wasn’t willing to stand where Condit wanted it anymore than Condit was where Diaz did. If Diaz stood still in the center of the cage Condit wouldn’t have been circling he’d have thrown the ranged strikes he wanted for 25 minutes straight if Diaz let him. Diaz didn’t, because why would he play into what Condit wanted. Both men did what they could do to fight where they wanted, Condit was better at it, and people saying the guy who forced his opponent to fight at the range he wanted not what his opponent wanted and threw more strikes to boot was running and not fighting is hilarious.
