Georges St. Pierre vs Carlos Condit odds: 'Rush' open as -350 favorite

Photo

Carlos Condit, who defeated Nick Diaz via unanimous decision at UFC 143 last Saturday night (Feb. 4, 2012) in Las Vegas, Nevada, cleared his final hurdle en route to a Georges St. Pierre title fight later this year.

We think.

"The Natural Born Killer" secured the Welterweight Interim Championship with his five-rounder in "Sin City," and is now expected to face the Canadian kingpin in November of this year, assuming St. Pierre can stick to his tentative recovery schedule.

Regardless of when and where he returns, St. Pierre will do it as a -350 favorite, according to our fiscal friends over at Best Fight Odds. Condit will join him as the +270 underdog.

For now.

A lot can affect those lines as we move forward. Much of it depends on the stability of St. Pierre's knee, which was recently reconstructed after Georges ruptured his ACL in training camp.

Time will tell.

In the meantime, let's hear your initial reactions to these preliminary odds. Too high? Too low? Let's talk turkey in the comments section below.

Wont happen, Dana will force Carlos to rematch Nick

I agree. The winner of that rematch gets GSP - unless Diaz refuses to fight Condit again. If its Condit - GSP then I have to favor Condit based on the ACL surgery.

For the purposes of $$$ and the controversial decision, I can see DW rematching Condit and Diaz.

Yeah it's so dumb.

People think that people need to fight someone esle’s fight and that they are boring if they out strategize someone. All this bullshit about not fighting is so lame. Go to youtube and watch street fights, this is a professional sport. If you want a real fight they would allow blows to the back of the head, nut shots, eye gouging etc etc…

6 rooting for diaz, 3 for condit…All 9 of us had for diaz 48-47 or 49-46, needless to say we were ALL shocked when they say condit. Of course we had the volume really low & nobody could here rogan brainwashing either

you guys were either drunk or are not familiar with how MMA points are scored

condit out struck Diaz in almost every round and sustained basically no damage he won round 1,3 and 4 decisively and arguably lost the 2nd one saying Diaz won the fight is nothing short of asinine its mma not boxing all those leg kicks condit was landing counted….

No way did Condit win round 1, let alone decisively

He threw more leg kicks, sure…but Diaz threw a few of his own…he also threw head strikes, and body strikes…he controlled the cage…and he had Condit’s back on the cage even if only for a few seconds…

In a round so close I would think what Diaz did in round 1 weighed more than the leg kicks Condit threw…

But I already know MMA judging is never consistent…ever

by Starr788 on Feb 6, 2012 2:49 PM EST up reply actions

Diaz barely landed anything in the 1st round

condit landed kicks, elbows and some punches then got out of the pocket Diaz threw flurries but barely landed anything that opening round. chasing someone around the cage is not cage control. If Diaz had cage control he would have been able to prevent condit from moving away from his range

"i don't think people change, change requires re-wiring and thats a lot to go through, i think they adjust and learn a better way of dealing with themselves and others ... they don't really change, they do selfless things to conform to an extent to the expectations of the ones they want in their lives ..." -Dis Vincent

those leg kicks had nothing and were boring. he found out real early in the fight that he had nothing for diaz and decided to kick and flee. and yes this is mma not kick n run. Before i thought condit was a pretty exciting fighter looks like greg got a hold of him now. and diaz won

And Kos beat Rumble and Daley (not the best names, but wins nonetheless against guys that can put anyone to sleep). It’s going to be hard to put a rematch together without an injury our extended rehab. Condit does the same if they fight again IMO also, might even beat Nick worse. Greg Jackson FTW

All it takes is a certain match up to change a fighter’s style…see Condit vs Diaz

I think JDS comes to destroy people…BJ, the Diaz brothers…Anderson, even Chael…those guys are so confident in their game…Condit saddened me though because I think he came to win on points…I don’t remember him ever trying to finish…I don’t remember him even throwing combinations…I had bad short term memory though

yh thats what surprised me

i cant knock condit for his gameplan but hes always been a killer, excuse the pun.Youve got to put jake in there though.I just think cardio is a massive issue for him.

sanchez has been in soooo many amazing fights .. thats why i am shocked he wasnt on the fox or fx card but instead the fuel show … diego vs diaz rematch would be nice for ufc on fox 4 … i mean seriosuly maybe only maybe lytle has a better track record of exctiting fights .. his fight with guida, diaz the first time , kayro, riggs, stevenson, thiago, kampmann .. dude brings it more often then not ..

Why? It's not like it was a draw.

Dana thinks Condit won too. Move on.

There is a precedent set. You guys love to pick and choose when rematches are jusitified.

GSP – Kos 2.

Sonnen – Andy 2.

They definitely lost and ended up getting rematches anyway.

Why does a Diaz – Condit rematch sound so crazy?

Agreed. But only if its Condit, not Diaz.

I hope he fights again before facing GSP

I have a feeling St. Pierre won’t be ready by November anyway

yeah i mean if gsp is not ready then i could see a rematch … but

I don't want to see a Diaz rematch

not yet at least, he’s gotta prove that he belongs at the top level again imo

by Tommy Shenanigans on Feb 6, 2012 6:47 PM EST up reply actions

What should happen is

Condit vs Hendricks
Diaz vs Alves
Koscheck vs winner of ellenberger and dickhead.
All on the same card . Condit wins he fights gsp. Hendricks wins he fights gsp . Diaz beats Alves he fights gsp whether gsp wins or loses against interim champ . Winner of koscheck matchup fights loser of condit Hendricks and loser of koscheck matchup fights loser of Diaz vs Alves.

by wooly shambler on Feb 6, 2012 2:27 PM EST via mobile reply actions

Alves is fighting Kampmann.

But I think Diaz should fight the winner of that.
Koscheck should fight Hendricks.
Condit should fight the winner of Diego/Ellenberger. Winner of THAT faces GSP.

Condit should be +500 and GSP should be -1000

Condit cannot handle wrestlers

GSP is the best wrestler

This won’t even be a question.

this is such an easy fight for Georges

At least Condit will get to hold on some belt for some time.

Condit has excellent sweeps and never stops moving

He would give GSP some trouble for sure. I can’t really see GSP making a mistake that would lead to a sub or stoppage by Condit, but he’s way better than people give him credit for.

A sweep against GSP

I think you should look at GSP’s ground game… it ain’t going to happen

by Mesonto on Feb 7, 2012 10:05 AM EST up reply actions

even Georges doesnt want this fight

he congratulated Condit on his facebook, and his next sentence is “i hope i fight Nick some day”

by Newfie3 on Feb 6, 2012 2:32 PM EST reply actions

he doesnt did you see his face after the fight?

Easy fight for Gsp it will be a big points battle in which gsp is the best and a boring fight at that.

by Stock Burner on Feb 6, 2012 2:59 PM EST reply actions

wish GSP would retire

Because there are no exciting title fights until he does.

condit will spoil the party again

I lost to Cruz Jackson. He’s the best. I padded his record and just a can. I talk shit to try and get replies when In reality I still play the original Halo on original XBOX like a religiously. I’m so totally awesome and straight and I act gay on a blog only because I’m the second loneliest mother fucker on Mania. First goes to Stallion. I want Shivan to lose to Cruz and Diaz to show how overrated he is. My favorite fighter is Josh Burkman. Thank You.

"i oilcheck need to take a reality check. What an imbecile i am to even think of going up against Scott1 with his perfect 1 and 0 sig record.I am already known as Manias biggest scumbag now i’ve got the moniker of a loser as well!TUT TUT SMH!!!"

I played 8=Danago in words with friends and he quit just like shogun.

gsp should be

-900 personally

carlos brings nothing to the table to threaten gsp

if diaz can take you down your in trouble

not to mention rory mcdonald nearly beat carlos with wrestling and top control but rory gassed

by P86 on Feb 6, 2012 3:50 PM EST reply actions

GSP won't put up as much pressure as Diaz did in the stand up

therefore, letting Condit fight like his usual self, throwing knockout shots

by JJPP on Feb 6, 2012 4:13 PM EST reply actions

I'm a huge Diaz fan but I don't wanna see him

Rematch condit, the rematch I want to see is Diaz vs Sanchez, whether or bot Sanchez beats Jake or not, there first fight was one of my fav ever, it will be a great comeback fight for diaz
