Ouch.
Roy Nelson was bleeding like a stuck pig in his heavyweight fight against Fabricio Werdum last Saturday night (Feb. 4, 2012) in the co-main event of UFC 143: "Diac vs. Condit" from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Not hard to see why.
Nelson was battered across three rounds by the much larger "Vai Cavalo," eating several knees in the clinch and taking an inordinate amount of abuse en route to a unanimous decision loss.
"Here is the cut from me head butting Werdum's knee in the 1st. My face is fine, forehead is a little sore.gym monday, pissed and it's not the happy Roy, stitches total I want to say about 16-20 two cuts. As [an] entertainer I always must put on show to give it drama and suspense, and maybe a little horror (blood)."

i was super impressed with him. Based on how JDS beat the crap out of Nelson, and then how Werdum did it, i was like damn!

i dont love him...but i respect his heart & effort.
But he looked severely undersized & without a gameplan. Almost reinforces my opinion that a new weightclass should be instituted. We bitch when a guy that cuts weight comes in 15pounds over his opponent on fightnight. In Roy’s case it mustve been 25-30lbs. Add that to actual physical stature and its a ridiculous advantage. imo a SUPER heavyweight division would create opportunities. Past 145, Every other divison is separated by 15lbs until the split between 205-265. Lots of good atheletes slip thru that 60lb crack. And more than just Brandon Vera.

Super HW will never happen in UFC
They don’t want a bunch of out of shape 300+ lbs guys gassing out in mins. Lets be honest besides Pudz find me a in shape super HW that doesn’t gas after 1 round. Roy and Werdum cut no weight, and they weighed in at the same weight give or take a pound. So where is this 25-30lbs diff coming from? Big Country has a LHW frame no doubt about it, but he needs to get more fit. Werdum was taller and in better shape, he wasnt “bigger or heavier” Roy is just thicker.

In my opinion 265 SHOULD be superheavy. The 60lbs space between 205-265 should leave room for a kind of cruiser weight divison that would allow fighters who aren’t big enough to compete in a divison more suited to their natural weights. Guys like Roy & Joey Beltran might be putting on weight to allow them to compete. Roy used his weight on the ground, Joey against the cage. Guys like Forrest wouldn’t have to kill themselves to make 205 & show up rehydrated to 220 but physically drained on Fight night. Long story made short, A 225lb divison would even matters out a bit for fighters who fall in that gap.
