UFC 143: "Diaz vs. Condit" from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, has officially wrapped, which means it's time for those select fighters who went above and beyond in their respective fights to get a little extra grease for their efforts.
To the tune of $65,000 each.
The promotion dished out its standard post-fight monetary bonuses to four out of the 20 fighters on the card, and it's probably no surprise who's leaving "Sin City" with a second sack of simoleons.
If you didn't both to tune into the Facebook stream then you missed the "Knockout of the Night," an over the shoulder head kick one-hitter quitter from Stephen Thompson on Dan Stittgen. "Wonderboy" came into the night having compiled a record of 57-0 in combat sports before making his Octagon debut.
And what a debut it was.
The "Submission of the Night" was also an easy pick, due mainly to the fact that there were only two submissions on the entire card. And that went to Dustin Poirier, who used a triangle/armbar combination to force a tap on newcomer Max Holloway, a 20-year-old kid in way over his head who put forth a valiant effort nonetheless.
Finally, Fabricio Werdum and Roy Nelson were awarded "Fight of the Night" for their thrilling back-and-forth war of attrition that featured the Brazilian jiu-jitsu ace busting out a Muay Thai clinch that Rafael Cordeiro would be proud of. This marks a successful return to the UFC heavyweight division and puts him right into the proverbial "mix."
Here are the special fight bonuses for UFC 143:
Knockout of the Night -- Stephen Thompson
Submission of the Night -- Dustin Poirier
Fight of the Night -- Fabricio Werdum vs. Roy Nelson
Again, each fighter received $65,000 extra for their performances in addition to their respective base salaries, which we will pass along as soon as possible.

Werdum is still improving fight to fight. Amazing to watch. Who knows where he is going to end up. His striking looks fluid and pretty devastating. He kicked Roy’s ass at his own game. If Werdum gets another shot at JDS, he will not come in fat un unprepared like last time. I think Reem KOs JDS so they could set up a rematch with Werdum afterward (assuming JDS loses of course). Otherwise, I would like to see Werdum vs. Mir. I think that would be a very good match up.

he didnt avoid damage. diaz may not have landed as much as he usually does but he landed more on condit. whenever rogan said condit countered and they showed a replay condis shit didnt land. its fucking stupid the proof is right in front of everyone. yeah he landed a few good strikes but diaz landed more.

Yeah, picking Nelson over Werdum was crazy. Werdum is a much improved fighter in the stand up, and we all know he is the best there is on the ground. Nelson dove in his guard and got out of there in short order after almost getting arm barred in like 5 seconds, lol. I wonder if Mir fights Werdum, if he would venture into Werdum’s guard or not?

This is exactly what I’ve said the UFC needs: more elite fighters from other disciplines. Thompson has a fantastic sports Karate/kickboxing record, and today he showed the technically-challenged UFC crowd what proper kicking looks like. I like where this is going.
The WW division seems to have the most exciting prospects right now...
