Nick Diaz vs Carlos Condit full fight video highlights from UFC 143

Carlos Condit takes a controversial decision over Nick Diaz in the main event of UFC 143 last night (Sat., Feb. 4, 2012) at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Condit worked a smart game plan, making Diaz chase him around the cage for five rounds and 25 minutes while peppering with shots before jumping back out of range. It was highly effective and frustrated the Stockton slugger, who never did settle in and get comfortable. Still, Diaz felt he did enough to win with his aggressive, stalking approach and was so upset at the outcome he announced his retirement from MMA in the post-fight interview. We'll wait and see if he sticks with it. For a more detailed recap on the "Diaz vs. Condit" fight click here and for complete UFC 143 results and blow-by-blow coverage of all the night's action click here.

Is that Carlos Condit....

or Kalib Starnes? Never seen someone run so much in a fight!

Looking forward to seeing Bisping get smashed.

It was a good strategy using lateral movement.

Look what happened to Penn for backing up and standing against the cage

I know right? He was supposed to fight Nick Diaz at his own style.

Why the hell would he have a game plan, especially one that won him the fight.

Now, count up your crimes!
Also, I wish Nick Diaz great luck in his new profession of......anything but MMA because Carlos Condit retired him.

I don't call it running....

I call it effective striking, getting outside the pocket, resetting, then doing more effective striking.

According to Diaz’s cut up face, Carlos chose the right gameplan and executed it perfectly.

Please. Casual MMA fans wouldn't even watch this fight

The “tactics” showed how , even tho the two fighters were pretty evenly matched physically, Condit was afraid to engage. I can’t tell you how many times Carlos looked ready to fight, Nick takes a step forward, then Carlos has to fucking reset. Even before a punch was thrown

This proved to me that Carlos was afraid.

Boozer sucks.

If he was afraid he wouldn't have taken the fight.

haha baby kicks that was awesome. diaz is and always will be my favorite welterweight. and i was fooled when carlos said its going to be a dog fight i had forgot he trained under greg jackson. that fight disappointed me and it was on carlos behalf. he should have pushed the pace and then maybe i wouldnt feel like diaz got screwed but diaz did everything he needed to do to win. and after hearing the way rashad was talking on that post fight show i hope jones kills him.

I AM NOT A FAN OF NICK AT ALL!!!

I came in this fight cheering for Carlos and I thought it was 2-2 going into the last round. Gave the last round to Carlos till the takedown then I didnt know where to go with it but the 2 rounds I gave to Carlos (3-4) I was iffy about where 1 and 2 I was 100% sure it was nick so therefore I expected Diaz to win the decision but I was hoping that Carlos pulled it off.
Then comes the scoring and when they said 49-46 I thought for sure Nick won and my friends already started fight fiving each other (all nick fans) so when they said Carlos I was in shock
So here is my honest opinion. DIAZ WAS ROBBED. I could have accepted a Carlos win with score 48-47 but that 49-46 score made it clear in my eyes Diaz was robbed. WHICH IS COMPLETE BULLSHIT! thats my 2 cents :)

by Kingsam360 on Feb 5, 2012 2:33 AM EST reply actions

Diaz didn't land anything solid in the first round while condit did, he did OK in the second lost 3 and 4

and was losing the 5th until that TD and he did nothing on the ground…you are saying he was “robbed” because he lost a Unanimous decison instead of a split one, he would have lost either way and he only clearly won one round sometimes i wonder what kind of criteria some people use

"i don't think people change, change requires re-wiring and thats a lot to go through, i think they adjust and learn a better way of dealing with themselves and others ... they don't really change, they do selfless things to conform to an extent to the expectations of the ones they want in their lives ..." -Dis Vincent

I remember Rogan saying they both landed the same punches in Rd1

then he said they throw the same punches 71 diaz 70 carlos. So if its a tie then you have to give it to the aggressor I would think and thats why I gave it to Diaz

by Kingsam360 on Feb 5, 2012 2:42 AM EST up reply actions

rogan was wrong, watch the round again,Condit out struck him with both kicks and punches

Rogan is not the ultimate voice of MMA

What you see landed I saw missing

I saw carlos twice land a great kick to the head but other then that he didnt do any damage.

if you pay attention to Diaz marks they all look like scratches which dont happen when you fully connect.

We all know Diaz is quick to bleed and he didnt bleed which further confirms nothing landed flush

Condit said before the fight that Nick’s style makes him take a lot of punishment during fights, but that Nick overcomes it by being tough. Condit said he would inflict too much damage for Nick to be able to handle. That did not happen. Truth is, Nick walked right past anything Condit threw at him the entire fight. I can see why Nick would be disappointed on this loss. Condit had a better game plan that allowed him to out point Nick. So he won the fight but in no way did he do what he said he was going to do before the fight. Credit to both fighters though, it went the distance.

forget what we think..

Dana White’s tone and answers say it all. He wasn’t hyped that Carlos won. He didn’t even defend stand up for him. It was a look of sheer disappointment. He is now crapping a brick figuring out how to sell a fight with a fighter whom many people now do not want to ever watch fight again. He has two champions(including Frankie Edgar) whom he can’t market and the fans don’t want to watch

but as a boss, he knows he lost a lot of future money. I mean think about it, what PPV would have sold more? HE was hoping for a fight that would have been as big as sonen – silva 2, and it didn’t pan out. Now he has to figure out how to market a low interest card

Agreed but,

This sport should be about the better fighter, not the better promoter. Bottom line, win fights! Thats what GSP does!

agreed with both, but...

think about your comment BM. If this were true, Tim Sylvia would still be in the UFC. He fought with a “Smart” game plan of fighting not to lose, and the minute he lost, he was gone. Condit is not an exciting fighter. You have to have the crowd somewhat on your side. People at the place I was at were cheering. They absolutely thought the fight was horrible, but were glad diaz just lost. Most I was tlaking to would never watch Condit fight again because he is a waste of their money

Who Wins

I care more about who is a better fighter than who can sell a f*ckin ticket! Thats what this sport is all about, not some show!

anyone who says he was running knows nothing about mma

What would you do if you’re Carlos condit and you know that Diaz excels when he has his opponent backed up against the fence? Stand there and get peppered with punches like everyone does? No you get a good game plan and you avoid that which condit did perfectly.

Ohhhhhhh CANADA - Georges St. Pierre, right here is where he calls home, and smoking marijuana, we consider it legal.

now we aren't pro's

but when some of us have been following and training for this sport for a long time call it running, the AP has referenced it as running and , well, he did not deny that he was running… I’m just saying, if it looks like a rat and smells like a rat…

lol

Here’s how it went down.

Diaz gets in a fighting stance.

Condit gets in a fighting stance.

Diaz takes a step toward Condit, Condit retreats until he’s close to the wall, then he fucking runs to get back towards the middle.

Repeat.

Boozer sucks.

How about show that you can out strike the striker? I think Condit fought smart. He did the only thing he could have done to have a chance of winning this fight. I can also see how people are generally pissed because everyone wanted to see more from Condit. He said Nick was not gonna be able to take his punishment. Nick did and never stopped coming forward.

“everyone wanted to see more from Condit”. Best post I have read tonight. I think it is safe to say his “gameplan” lost him more fans than he gained.

and btw you have to be the biggest Diaz fan ever to think he was robbed

SCOREBOARD

CONDIT

I’ve never seen so many whining babies cry and complain like these Diaz fans. wow.

It was a close fight- I felt like the judges were going to give it to Diaz though since GSP/Diaz was the money fight.
