UFC 144: What if it was under PRIDE 'rules'?

This Saturday (Feb 25th) the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) returns to one of the richest cultures when talking about martial arts, Japan.
UFC 144: 'Edgar vs. Henderson' will be Zuffa's first ran show in 'the land of the rising sun' and UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar's first title defense against someone not named BJ Penn or Gray Maynard. The card also welcomes home fan favorite Quinton Jackson as he collides with Ryan Bader in a teeter-totter of divisional rankings as one goes up and one goes down.
Now a lot of you fans bet (legally) through online sites but let me throw a theoretical curve ball, what if this pay per view was contested under those 'legendary' PRIDE rules. You know, foot stomps, yellow cards and 10 minute first rounds, how different would your parlay look?
What if the UFC adapted the rules of PRIDE over our recognized 'Unified Rules of MMA' how different would our landscape be?.
Now instead of going so far into my theories, simply leave a comment below and i'll create a future fan post next week recapping what you, the Maniacs' thought.

Way more finishes instead of all decisions
Pride used to help wrestlers finish better. The whole no kicking a grounded opponent rule has mainly stifled and made MMA into a decision-fest.
Even tho I initially acted like a small child, I have been forced to come to my senses. enzo-enormous is better at calling fights than I am, by far. I am a little immature but am working on it. Also, I love dudes and cant wait to get a reach around from the 209

The real reason the UFC won’t do a PRIDE rules event is easy. They could never come back to the United States and do a show under the Unified Rules.
Blood thirsty fans would laugha nd scoff at the Unified Rules if they saw what UFC 144 would be like. Imagine wtaching UFC on FX 2: ‘Alves vs. Kampmann’ after watching UFC 144 and you see far less decisions or stalling at the latter event. It would force the UFC to run shows only in Japan as they could never do PRIDE rules in America.

I was actually thinking about this same thing last night. Like why doesn’t the UFC just run one more PRIDE show. Your explanation is as good a reason as any to not do it.
Still, I think they’ll do it eventually. They have to!
Sakuraba would get jabbed to death by GSP if they were to fight in a prime vs. prime fantasy match. Beating one dimensional Gracie's is cool and all, but without wrestling you ain't shit.
I doubt it will ever happen. It would be amazing, but LSC has a good point like you said.

To be fair though, there were plenty of shitty decisions in PRIDE too. Admittedly a lot of them were in fights involving shitty fighters, but even so. I never agreed with the yellow card rule, for instance. Soccer kicks and stomps aren’t really needed either, but knees to the head would definitely be nice.

the majority of MMA fans LIKE to see rules that provide for more stoppages, even if slightly more dangerous, as long as it is not significantly more dangerous. Let me guess, you think going 55 in a 55 mph zone is ok, but 57 is just way outta line, right? Don’t fool yourself into thinking that just because those moves are prohibited by current rules that they are significantly more dangerous than getting slammed on your head/neck, or getting repeatedly punched in vital organs.
I doubt that you have personally been witness to even 1 time that a fighter has been injured by a foot stomp or soccer kick in any more a degree than they are injured by current rules. I watched dozens of Pride events and I cant think of a single injury worse than what we see in just as much proportion today. The ONLY exception I can think of is MAYBE 12 to 6 elbows.
You call the man a moron, and apparently get upset at him for simply representing a different viewpoint than yours (which again is quite contrary to that of most [non-casual] fans of mma). To that I say, please feel free to find the exit and go watch shuffleboard or gymnastics, pansy.
