The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) 144 pre-fight press conference is in the books for the "Edgar vs. Henderson" pay-per-view (PPV) event scheduled for the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan, on Sat., Feb. 25, 2012.
And, of course, main event participants Frankie Edgar vs. Ben Henderson met up for a staredown to try to psyche each other out. Both men are "Smooth" customers, though, and look ready to rock and roll.
Also squaring off were main card fighters Quinton Jackson vs. Ryan Bader and Jake Shields vs. Yoshihiro Akiyama. Their staredown pics can be found after the jump.

Spot on. I feel the same way. Just like Penn, a motivated Rampage can rule his division (minus JBJ, of course) but he is focused on other things. Too bad, I miss the old Page.

I am actually pretty uspet that I'm going to have to miss this one.
But I will be at a casino gambling, getting wasted, and watching live mma fights. A buddy of mine (my brother in law’s best friend) has his 3rd pro fight at Mohegan Sun on Saturday night.
I can’t remember the last time I missed an event but this time around I don’t think my brother is ordering it so I won’t even be able to watch it the next day on his dvr. If anyone knows of a good torrent site that it can be downloaded at, please let me know via email.

I hope Sexyama takes it,
because this win would mean allot to him ranking wise. He’s easily my favorite Japanse fighter.
I doubt that Shields will be cut in defeat, if he gives a good show. 15 wins in a row isn´t nothing and losing to GSP and Ellenberger is no shame, and there is the situation he had in his fight with Jake…
Frankie and Ben look like they belong in different weight classes. I suppose you could argue they do.
Rampages head looks like it definitely should be in a different weight class than Bader’s

Ben cuts, Frankie doesn’t. Makes a travesty of the whole idea of weight categories when there’s such an obvious size difference.
Yeah, maybe that's why Edgar gained so many fans in such a short period of time. He is a warrior in the truest sense of the word.

Veach might be the biggest weight cutter at 155 in the world. Too bad all that size doesn’t translate to skill, lol. He is like Rumble at 170, and is so much bigger than Frankie it is almost scary.

In the beginning the Gracies created a product that featured no weight classes. Now? Guys like you clamoring about how unfair it is to cut weight. You have got to weight them at some point and 24 hours is appropriate IMO. Weigh-ins the day of? We would get even more gassing problems (not to mention MORE health risks for the fighters). No thanks.

do weigh ins the day of. Fighters would fight at their natural weight or get dominated.

So the vast majority of guys that weigh 5 pounds less than the next highest weight class should suffer?
You would still see the same disparity of size, but one class up.
The guys that weigh 160-178, or so, now would just fight at WW, instead of LW, but your reasoning would get rid of the anomalies of the Rumbles and Edgars whoeither cut a huge amount of weight or cut litle to no weight.
What does that solve?
