For the first time in over a decade, the world's largest fight promotion is headed back to "The Land of the Rising Sun," as UFC 144: "Edgar vs. Henderson" invades the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan, this Saturday night (Feb. 25, 2012) live on pay-per-view (PPV), featuring a lightweight championship bout that sees reigning titleholder Frankie Edgar put his strap on the line against former WEC 155-pound kingpin Ben Henderson. Predictions?

I am in awe at how many people are picking bendo here
this is the same guy who got out pointed by anthony pettis who is a fantastic fighter but is only a tenth the point fighter frankie edgar is . bendo has lackluster striking at best , he has great cardio and flexibility , and good submission defense . Frankie has better striking , is twice as fast , has better wrestling , and better cardio .
Without trying to sound like a dick , how in the hell is bendo seemingly the favorite amongst you all ?

his constant pressure, his athleticism
he has good submissions and g’n’p and good muay thai, lots of tools in the toolbox, he’s on a role too.
I wouldnt say frankie is twice as fast, Maynard managed to catch him in all 3 of their fights, Dunno about better wrestling either i think they’re level on that, power goes to Bendo by far too

Because stylistically Bendo match's up really good with Frankie

this is the same guy who got out pointed by anthony pettis
Most would argue that the fight with Pettis was razor close, and some would further argue that the running-fence-face-kick, which landed but did not hurt Henderson, was a grand enough kick to sway the judges in what was inagueably a very close fight.

I can't agree more...
as much as I think Bendo wins this……i’m finding it very difficult to not select Edgar in the moneypool. I think Bendo has a clear advantage in wrestling & grappling…..but if Edgar can turn this into a 5-round stick n move boxing match, he will outpoint Bendo as he’s a better boxer. Edgar also has great TDD, i just don’t know if he can avoid getting taken or dragged down for 25 minutes……..incredibly difficult fight to call…….can’t wait to see it.

Bendo doesn’t have anything to offer Frankie that BJ and Gray didn’t have.
BJ is a better boxer and has better jiu jitsu than Bendo, Gray has better wrestling and more power.
Bendo is really good at all things, but not really great at anything.

Its hard not to pick Bendo when Edgar struggled so much with gray...
Bendo will actually try to wrestle and is about the same size as gray. If this goes to the ground, Bendo all day. Easier said than done but there it is

It's also not hard to pick Bendo....
when you think about how easily he beat both Jim Miller and Clay Guida. Those two guys are far and way some of the toughest guys in the LW division…….from the 1sr round on, Bendo completely dominated both of those guys…..those fights were never in doubt. A couple of “leave no doubt” victories against fighters like that are impressive……

I’ll give him credit for finishing Maynard, but out of every single one of his fights prior to that.. this was the best highlight:

Always appreciate a link that reminds me how far MMA has come, but don't compare me to some Forrest vs Bonnar groupie.
I thought Diaz and Condit was an excellent fight and the exact opposite of any Dominick Cruz and/or Edgar fight. I’m not a fan of point fighters nor lay-n-pray specialists like Tyron Woodley. So sue me.
Ben Henderson said it better than I:

He wins one round and then he does just enough the next time to win that round, and then the next round. So by the end of the fight, you’re down five rounds to none.
