Carlos Condit Pre UFC 143: Diaz vs. Condit Interview with MMA2DAY Show

February 2, 2012Penny Buffington - PennyJoMMA

MMA2DAY Show Interview with Carlos Condit.

UFC 143: Interim Welterweight Championship bout: Nick Diaz vs. Carlos Condit Saturday, February 4, Mandalay Bay Events Center, Las Vegas, Nevada live on pay-per-view.

Some Highlights from the Interview:

“Either your going to kick my ass or I am going to kick your ass.”

“He is well rounded so to have a one dimensional game plan would be a mistake. He has got great Jui Jitsu so taking him down is dangerous, great stand-up, so keeping the fight standing is dangerous.”

“You have to promote the fight, you have to promote yourself. You have to look at this as a business. This is a job. This is what pays the bills so you have got to do what you have got to do to promote yourself.

“On the other hand: I am not going to compromise myself and try to be something I am not just to sell fights.”

Concerning GSP: “You know he is pretty secure as far as his career, as far as his legacy and financially I would imagine. But other fighters they are really living fight to fight, you know, that’s what’s paying the bills. So, sometimes you have got to overlook an injury and put it in the back of your mind and hope that it doesn’t become a bigger problem.”

“It’s a tough way to make a living whether you are kind of on the bottom of the pay scale or toward the middle or even on the high end. As the sport grows I think the pay is going to grow.”

“It’s tough. There’s a lot of guys who have talent and allot of potential but stuff happens they get injured. Can’t do a fight; you cant pay the bills, and end up doing something else, and having to kind of give up on their dream. You know for everyone successful in the UFC their is probably 20 or 30 guys that get washed out and wasn’t able to do what they wanted with their lives as far as pursuing a career in MMA.”
