It seems that MMAFighting have recently acquired a more efficient method of commenting. They have joined the ranks of the elite, but they are no Mania, No sir they are not.
I'm going to keep this one short and sweet but I believe that we should give them a good old Mania welcoming. I just hope that it doesn't turn into a Bloodyelbow-esque place of discussion because I really do enjoy watching their interviews and commenting.
What say you. Can they handle the Maniacs?

By the way, this is in no way an organized trashing of their site for any of the mods out there. Just a friendly greeting and introduction of the Mania boys and girls in a form of welcome to the MMAF chaps so that we can keep it real across SBN. Randall, ABB, Hairy and Oil, keep it in check ey! That is if you take the time.

Another MMA blog?
Why doesn’t SB nation merge all their MMA blogs into one? From a business perspective, it isn’t optimal to fragment your readership and duplicate editorial effort.
I realize this may trigger something of a blood feud between Mania and BE regulars, and editors may have to enter the Octagon to fight for supremacy (one boss to rule them all, last mod standing, etc). But it would be easier for readers to follow just one blog, and more cost-effective for the corporate organisation.
Here is where the pitchforks come out.
different people enjoy different styles
I enjoy the different writers at various sources. Different takes, different predictions and different reviews on the outcomes of the fights. One source can say the fighter looked great, another says he looked worse than he ever had. It’s a matter of opinion. If there was only a single source, then it would be even easier for people to not develop their own opinions.

I agree with you, but merging them isn’t synonymous with reducing diversity of perspective. It just means the different voices are in one place. This will actually be a richer experience for readers, having the blogger who likes the fighter and the one who hates him writing on the same blog. In reality most readers tend to be loyal to one or two blogs out of habit, meaning they miss out on the available diversity of editorial perspectives.

That would be too many on one site. People who lose their jobs because of overstaffing, then go start a new site then the whole process starts all over again

Yes, there would definitely be some redundancies, but also benefits of scale, such as elimination of duplication (you can be sure that all SB Nation MMA blogs will write their reviews of each UFC event). So instead of having 3-4 blogs of roughly the same size, you have just one, and lose maybe 10% of the staff.
And let’s face it, speaking strictly from a business perspective (here is where I wear my ruthless capitalist hat)- if combining your duplicated blogs into one means that there will be redundancies, then you’re probably employing too many people. Meaning there’s room for improvement in your bottom line.
Of course, all the redundancies would come from blogs APART from Mania ;-)

In theory yes...
In practice, we are creatures of habit and routine, and it seems like too much work to check multiple sites. Every now and then I’ll go to BE or HKL to see what’s up, but I get 99% of my MMA news from mania, even though I sometimes think I’m missing out on a possibly different reading experience.

I like having different sites. The control over the news is non existent and it’s more exciting fishing around.

Or a world in which Mania’s mod policy was the one applied on the combined blog. You wouldn’t have to adopt the worst policy- you could just as well adopt the best one.

It’s like a dictatorship over there.
It all comes down to the author of the article and BE guys take themselves way too seriously. You can’t even question their article without getting attacked by minions and then warned. Even if you do it politely.

it suckles enough of my time..and i feel like i know most of you guys in the way you could over an internet forum..so yeah..mania and no where else…plus..being a chick on a mma site can be annoying to break through to the “dudes”..not that i demand to be taken seriously..hell no…you all just have to put up with me..cuz you are stuck with me!!

Fair enough. It’s kind of a general assumption on the internet that everyone is a dude, especially on a sausage-fest like an MMA forum. I do it too, unless someone has a feminine name I assume they must be a guy until they say otherwise.

Nah, not really. I prefer to comment on forums and blogs. But I will have a look at the comments section the next time I’m checking out some vids on youtube.
