Brian Stann says he'll be the analyst on future UFC on FOX shows
The power of fans compels Dana White.
After seeing how great UFC middleweight Brian Stann was as a guest analyst on the UFC on Fuel TV 1: "Sanchez vs. Ellenberger" broadcast this past Feb. 15, 2012, apparently the powers that be have decided he deserves an expanded role.
From "All American's" official Twitter account:
"Huge thanks to all the fans who have supported me after the Fuel broadcast. Looks like I will be doing the Live Fox shows now. Power of fans."
To those who watch with a critical eye (ahem) this is welcome news. The UFC debuted on FOX with Brock Lesnar and Dana White serving as analysts to decidedly mixed results. The second show wasn't much better, with Randy Couture doing a decent enough job but Jon Jones absolutely bombing on live TV.
Stann, meanwhile, was calm, cool and composed while providing insight without sounding as though he was unsure of himself. In fact, if one didn't know better, one might think he's a seasoned veteran with a microphone in his hand.
For my money, Curt Menefee, Couture and Stann should be a permanent team. How about you, Maniacs?

Didn't watch the fuel fights was he any good?
If you dont like drugs then dont do them.....give them to me!
No he did the
Pre and post fight interviews with that fat bald guy. Like when Lesnar, JBJ etc did it. He’s easy on the ears compared to the fat ass.
The fat ass is Jay Glazer.
Welcome to sports.
He did the Pride shows with Frank Trigg, trains MMA guys, and hosts NFL broadcasts.
Not a bad guy, and much preferred over anything NBC’s MMA bullshit had to offer (fucking remember Gus?).
The dude abides.
The professional athletes I train use progressive resistance for rapid response. Even Dan Henderson uses it.

Glazer is weak. But def better than Gus Johnson!
Jon Anik is much better behind a desk than cageside or interviews.
Best guys (besides Rogan & Goldie):
Primary Desk Anchor:
Jon Anik
Desk “Experts”:
Sonnen
Stann
Mir
Cageside (2nd or 3rd man):
Couture
KenFlo
Rampage
Dana
Interviews:
Karyn Bryant
These guys are weak and should not be any part of the production:
Gus Johnson, Tito, Rashad, Shamrock, Trigg, Kenny Rice, Bas, Chuck, Bonnar, Sadollah. Glazer
"Who's da MASTA?!!!"
Miletich is the best color guy in the sport
and I really like Bellator’s team of Jimmy Smith and the other guy, lol.
Anik is great at the desk, but he and Kenny sound too much alike to make their team work. I also hate Mir as he is so one-sided to BJJ guysit is almost sickening, but his technical breakdown on the mat is the best in MMA bar none, he just sees opening that never come to fruition and acts like the guy is half a second from a sub, but it never comes.
I am partial to Helwani’s interviews, nbut no one asks any really tough questions because they all want to keep their credentials, lol.

Man I can't stand that toolbag that's with Jimmy
They did M1 shows, too and he was so annoying.

Yeah MMA interviews would be a lot better if most MMA fighters and promoters weren't so sensitive
Always a Nick Diaz fan, losing a close fight to Carlos Condit does not mean that you were overrated. And utilising a smart strategy to win a fight does not mean that you're scared.
Mania misses dakatak.
you think karyn bryant does better interviews than ariel?
i think she sucks
"If guns cause crime then all of mine are defective."
Ariel's the best in my opinion
Karyn’s pretty good though I prefer Megan to her.

Ariel is an annoying twit. Karyn has great rapport with the fighters and gets them out of their shells.
It’s not that her questions are better, it’s that she puts fighters at ease and gets them to say what they really think. Her interviews with guys like Rampage, Kongo, Franklin…they’re so much more real and relaxed and unrehearsed than what you see with any other reporter. Ariel just gets them to recite the lines they’ve rehearsed to respond to the standard stock questions. Also, Ariel is obsessed with WWE and keeps trying to talk about the similarities, which I think is insulting to real fighters…and that’s just one of the ways he pisses them off. Another is trying to hype irrelevant rivalries like Rampage vs King Mo. It’s clear that Helwani is more interested in the drama than the fights themselves.

Jay glazer did pride shows with trigg?

Shouldn't be too bad
That fat bald guy is annoying as fuck though. Warming up to Jon Anik too, he was very hard to listen to at first but not as hard now.
UGH, Anik is a pile of crap.
Only thing that makes him look better is that I’ve seen Ron Kruck at his job. These 2 fuckers should be dragged into a field and beaten with microphones.
The dude abides.
Anik is much better behind a desk.
He brings a lot more energy to the desk shows than Glazer or that black guy they used for the FOX shows

Stann has guest hosted Inside MMA a couple times and he was great at it.

Thank You Very Much!
It was off topic but it was exactly what I was looking for. Any ideas on how i can get Nick Diaz, Rory Mcdonald and Jake Ellenberger? I heard you had to pre order it but I was hoping you and your infinite wisdom could get me around that.
Nick Diaz, Phil Davis, Mayhem Miller and Brian Stann were free DLC for those who pre-ordered
If you didn’t pre-order then you have to pay extra to get the fighter packs. You can either pay for a season pass which gets you every DLC at a discount or you can buy each fighter pack separately.

Stann was the man!
We thought he did such a great job watching him on wed night. Calm cool and collective . I also like Randy couture and I thought brock lesnar was pretty good at it as well.
Brock was alright
But I agree Couture and Stann are good commentators for being professional fighters.
Randy's good when he's not trying to follow a script
if you saw that meeting on Dana’s blog, you saw that lat time out on FOX, Dana was telling them everything they needed to talk about. This is why Randy seemed stiff and less insightful than he usually does. Also, he’s much better cageside than behind a desk.

a little stiff. He’s not so good cageside because he’s not quick enough on the comments.

the entire production was terrific
this blew the fox broadcast clear out of the water. in fight stats, crisp play by plays, and great interviews. I’m very impressed and delighted

Hear, hear
I agree. He did an amazing job. Was really impressed.
good he is gonna need a fall back once he is exposed by a better stand up fighter in Alessio Sakara..
anyhow congrats to you brian!
lol @ letstalkmma
The same Sakura that was KO`D by Leben…..Houston Alexander, and Drew MCfEderies????
Hence the reason that fight was booked
Stann always looks great against other strikers, especially someone in Sakara who is smaller, has been KO’d before by heavy handed fighters and doesn’t have the same punching power.

The Voice!
I know the voice is under contract with HDnet but he is by far the best ring side commentator I have ever heard. He voices techncal opinions(which are mostly spot on) during the entire fight and he has the analogies to back it up.
-The Big Kabosh!
-It’s goodnight Irene!
-He’s getting past around more than a cucumber in a women’s prison.
Haha he's the best hands down.
How about
-a succulent right hand
-more knocks than a wood door
-more cuts than a butchers sale

As much as I'd love Voice and Guy Mezger to be the announcers, they work for HDNet and UFC's dealings with them are just starting to blossom.

Good for Brian
He’s very articulate and good on the mic. I didn’t see him on the FUEL show though if he did a good job then he should be doing those shows along with Randy, they’ll both give top analysis on the areas of MMA that they specialise in and neither of them will get nervous on camera (like Bones Jones) or be too opinionated and throw fighters under the bus if they lose (Dana).
I also thought that Anik and Kenny did a good job on commentary, they were professional and have good chemistry plus they didn’t distract from the broadcast with irrelevant information or screaming about nothing. Anik also did a far better job at bringing up the latest fight stats than Goldberg. The whole broadcast just seemed more polished than the tired PPV format in my opinion.

whatever happened to rich franklin announcing?
I thought i read somewhere that they were goinh to try him out.
Anderson Silva is going to retire Sonnen in Brazil!
Women are at home with their husbands and children. Whores are at the club getting smacked by the Reem.
He was awesome
He`s been better than anybody…even the people paid only to talk that know jack shit about fighting..
Does this mean
that Stann is going to retire? I hope he doesn’t just because he got subbed by Sonnen. He is one of the few exciting fighters to watch in the MW division. Anyone here anything about him being done or is this just a side job?
what about Bas??
I’m surprised Dana and Co. haven’t tried to lock him up. Contract problems maybe? Nobody better tha Bas ringside.
by Gurthee on Feb 18, 2012 10:45 AM EST via mobile reply actions
There is a tenuous relationship between UFC and HDNet/Mark Cuban, who Bas currently works for.
It wasn’t until last year that any HDNet personnel were allowed at UFC weigh-ins. Even now on Inside MMA you will not see video footage of the finish of any UFC fight. It’s all still pictures. You can see some video of the middle of fights but that didn’t start until last year either.
I think it has to do with Dana/Fertitas’ unwillingness to share the airtime with any other MMA organization.

Bas SUCKS!!!
Unless your idea of good commentary is guy who can barely remember the names of the guys in the cage, spends half of every fight talking about himself and reminiscing about his glory days, and predicts/calls for a liver kick every 30 seconds. Bas is a very likeable guy, but his commentary is worthless. Try watching any fight he calls and adding up the times he wrongly predicts what’s about to happen and then acts like whatever they actually did is what he told them to do. Typical example:
Bas: Wow, get ready, cause now for sure Johnson is gonna throw that left high kick!
Quadros: You mean Jackson right? Whoa what a beautiful slam!
Bas: Exactly, because like I said, Jackman’s for sure got to get it to the ground, because that’s what I said to him in the locker room!
Quadros: I thought you said he was going for a high kick.
Bas: Exactly! That’s it for sure! And now he’s right where he wants to be.
Quadros: On the ground?
Bas: For sure! Why? Because some of my best liver kicks were on the ground. Ask Yamasaki. For sure he’s gonna remember that one.
"Who's da MASTA?!!!"
He was good, keep em around

Dude is getting movie offers left and right and business doing other ventures. Probably will continue to come on just as a guest host from time to time.
