Mania Free Pool: Ellenberger vs Sanchez Results
There you go. Event number five was just concluded and we had some low scores. So as not to hurt your eyes with some low scores you can just focus on the partners of the free poolers' group picture.
The guy who banters his name in Mania as Heel Hook (McRad in Playground) get top honors for this event as he scored an event high (yes, I know!) of 64 points. He did this by going 7 of 9 and getting full points on Miocic, Dillashaw, and correctly predicting that Justin Salas will hump his way into victory.
Very close to Heel Hook is perennial contender Mr GrappleFan who scored 63 points by correctly picking 6 out of 9 winners. He got full points on Ellenberger and Dillashaw. He was also able to predict that Kuivanen's takedown defense is worse than Dan Hardy.
Coming in as third is newcomer LetstalkMMA who scored 62 points by going 7 of 9 and getting full points on Miocic and Salas.
My protege karpentero channeled her inner sarah and dismally scored 22 points. That's gotta be the lowest anyone who picked all fights scored in any pool, in any given time.
My pick to win this season Choro probably overslept and forgot to pick. Wake up Choro!
Wolfman was not able to share his picks but he scored decently at 55

Lowest score in any pool this season is 20 by TuffGong
22 was the lowest by anyone this event, not including Ch0r0. And David W-S > Entire free pool. Come on people, we need you to produce more roland’s and Stallion’s.
Always a Nick Diaz fan, losing a close fight to Carlos Condit does not mean that you were overrated. And utilising a smart strategy to win a fight does not mean that you're scared.
Mania misses dakatak.
Hahaha
Sorry I forgot the 20 scored by tuffgong. Regardless, 22 is still 22.

The feast is over for Nick Diaz. No longer will he dine on mediocre fighters from lesser promotions. With a future promising fights against GSP, Condit, Fitch, Kos, MacDonald, Ellenberger, Alves, Hendricks and Sanchez, you probably should retire. Don’t be scared, Homie.
Grapplefan needs to come over to the money pool next season
You go out there and start acting like a terrorist, you're gonna get Osama Bin Laden'd
Grapplefan is supposed to come over this season
Changed his mind and he will play this free pool. Am sure he will come over next season. He can be competitive in the money pool.

Ill be there. More people than me need to come over. Heelhook is a consistant machine and my friend larry is gonna spank yall. Next season he picked all decisions as split this event … if ur reading this; u noob :) In the free pool everybody can afford several off nights. In the money pool I would be toast by now. you would be close to top 10
which is within spitting distance of the money with 4 events left.
Liek you said, the key is consistency. One bad event can be mitigated. Two cannot.

Sound good man. I can give you the mega scoop on my crazy under 30 pound bets haha
I appreciate any discussions about parlays mate especially from maniacs. I’d definitely take you up on the round robin explanation. I get a feeling that i’m heading towards that right now (5/6 fighters mixed into 6 parlays so I don’t lose them all on one fighter, equal amounts of cash at roughly even odds with one slightly larger “lock” parlay).
you’re darkside so I need to gain the knowledge before next season probably.
5-3, undefeated and undisputed, beat me ... if you can.

thats a mixed bag that i will say thanks very much and to the second part; no deal!
First time I broke even yesterday. Lost a pound but whatever. Stumberg killed it, if I didn’t listen to him about salas id be a gonner this event so thanks patrick … I love you in a dave herman super hetro sasquatch type of manner (you lucky lucky guy). Two of the people I bet on lost so I can’t complain with breaking even at all. Feel like I’m getting the hang of it, iv lost several times before by including the same fighter in all parlays, I’m a slow learner. Did you keep on your roll?
by MrGrapplefan on Feb 16, 2012 7:12 AM EST via mobile up reply actions
yes I did hang on to my bankroll but lost a little
as u know Im experimenting with Round Robin Parlay Bets…. lets call it RRPB from now on ok? I’ve been experimenting with RRPB for the last few events because it was a learning process and took a big hit for me last time because I foolishly did RRPB 4ways without realizing the consquences. This time I was scrambling the last 2 hrs before the event because I didn’t know it was on a freakin’ wed. so all my picks in playground were by UD as I left it that way to place my bets(priority). By the time I came back to playground it was closed.
I think I get it now..here’s how it went down even though I didn’t hit I protected my roll by only doing 2wyRRPB.
Risking $201.00 (3 bets, 2way RRPB at $67.00ea) To Win $318. (-65.43) got back $135.57
Ellenberger/Brookins/Simpson… shit that was close.
Risking $140.00 (28 bets, 2way RRPB at $5.00ea)To Win $216.19 (+36.83) got back $176.83
ellenberger/menjivar/simpson/ brookins/salas/herman/dillashaw
Risking $75.00 (15bets, 2way RRPB at $5.00ea)To Win $395.06 (-37.22) got back $37.78
Ellenberger/Brookins/Struve/DeFries/Watson/Albert
Total bets $416.00 got back $350.18
I think the moral of the parlay betting experiments is, 2way RR parlays… u can have a decent upside with a somewhat protected downside of getting your money back… picking 5 out of 7 in a 2way round robin earned a small profit.
5 dimes gave best odds, betus 2nd, bovado 3rd
"Did you know that if you mix equal parts
of gasoline and equal parts frozen orange juice
concentrate, you can make napalm?"
and yes I know i contridicted myself...
with my $140 bet and $75 bet… I just needed to see what would happen picking favorites and then picking underdogs they kind of cancelled eachother out.
Brookins/Ellenberger were my horses… if I just did $200 straight up on them I would’ve won $200 and that would have been a lot easier and profitable but it would have been all or nothing. I really like the RRPB2way and will now use that to compliment my bets with more than 2 fighters involved in a parlay… it leaves a lot more options for me now… i like it.
"Did you know that if you mix equal parts
of gasoline and equal parts frozen orange juice
concentrate, you can make napalm?"
Have you ever had trouble getting money out of websites?
Im gonna start gamblin on ufc 144 which sites should I use?
You go out there and start acting like a terrorist, you're gonna get Osama Bin Laden'd
His suggestions are the ones I see the most ...
5dimes has usually good odds but is apparently not user friendly (not to the point of being unusable mind),
Bovada is Bodog in Europe I think, so they can accept bets from US citizens.
BetUS.
don’t forget bestfightodds.com to compare across sites. That’s why if possible you should sign up with more than 1 to take advantage of better odds.
5-3, undefeated and undisputed, beat me ... if you can.

lol I guess I overlooked the last line of that post
But what about withdrawing your money, have any problems?
You go out there and start acting like a terrorist, you're gonna get Osama Bin Laden'd
with me I had to bet a certain amount before I withdrew but I was notified when I could.
I haven’t actually done it yet so I don’t know how long it takes though

generally 10 days after u give them a photo id copy other info etc
"Did you know that if you mix equal parts

5dimes, bovada, betus
generally in that order… 5 dimes isnt as user friendly but lately my bets have been going to them… odds for complete card usually come out early wed morning

DANG!
Changed Markes to Simpson right before the fight, you just cant ignore his wrestling background. Also went against my boy Struve but figured it was time he got KO again, dam. Tough picks, didnt know anythign about alot of these guys, did alot of reading.
Fuck Simpson
He’s brutal. I haven’t picked anyone from their camp ever. Hate them all.

Markes' fight with Vemola convinced me on him.
but then I read he lost 53 pounds in 8 weeks to make 185 and got scared.

The Vemola fight was the reason that I picked him as well
That an how unimpressed I have been by Simpson in every fight that I’ve seen him in. Luckily I didn’t do enough research to find out about the tough weight cut otherwise I probably would have changed my pick. I admittedly put way too much stock into tough cuts when picking fights.

I'm feeling that Markes/Simpson flip flop Heelhook. Glad we both did it though.
Markes humbled me when I picked Vemola, this time I was stupid and knew what he could do. I found out too late that he’s actually a MW fighting a guy who hasn’t got superior striking.
5-3, undefeated and undisputed, beat me ... if you can.
I clearly didnt learn my lesson the first time, The Pride has smashed me AGAIN. My excess estrogen has destroyed my life, I make Chaz Bono look like a real man"
yeah those were two major swings I was wrong on both of them..
it was difficult to determine exactly how big or effective Markes was going to be at 185lbs.. at 205lbs he was really avoiding punches and showed just enough composure to get by in the standup… at 185lbs he was confident in his size advantage and was more comfortable on his feet despite getting stung with a simpson underhook. I knew Markes grappling would be solid but I didn’t know his composure would get better in the standup at 185lbs… I was counting on simpsons standup to be a tad better… it was almost dead even.
I liked struve and almost picked him and didn’t realize herman would gas so easily. I knew herman wouldnt improve much and knew that struve would, I just didnt know he would improve enough to beat herman… ‘wrong’
"Did you know that if you mix equal parts
of gasoline and equal parts frozen orange juice

On the Struve fight I was so non-objective on that fight. Discredited Struve because of his past performances and writ him off like an idiot
Overestimated Herman’s endurance in the later rounds too but I still don’t know why he tired. jgrapplefan@yahoo.co.uk if you want to reach me Thor.

Ulf would you mind if I give her to you instead?

pb... they don't know what that means...
more step by step direction for newbies might recruit more players… playground is not user friendly… when I 1st went on there i had some difficulty, figuring out what r the proper steps to take to sign up and get a reply from someone in mania camp. it took a couple of weeks to get it right even though i mailed my money on time.
once u have it down u can cut n paste it at the bottom of every result u post… so the next time someone asks u can just say look above. and if they forget (cause they will) they can always go to one of the posts n look up directions.imo.

Thanks Thor for the help
I believe Kale was directed by Ulf to join the free pool first before heading into the big league. I also believe that he knows what MMA Playground is.

3rd with 77 points last event and I did say I’ll be back to my 30s points next event.
And I hit 37 lol
Kenny Florian is 0-3 in title fights. I am 0-0 in title fights. MMA maths mean I'm better than Florian!

damn ... you didn't have to do it on purpose to prove a point!
5-3, undefeated and undisputed, beat me ... if you can.
I clearly didnt learn my lesson the first time, The Pride has smashed me AGAIN. My excess estrogen has destroyed my life, I make Chaz Bono look like a real man"
This thread makes me a sad panda
Two reasons really:
1. It is better than the Money Pool thread
2. It is better than the Friday fun thread
WHAT. THE. FUCK?
Fighters fight. Snitches Snitch.
I actually like this thread better than the money pool thread
More women and less Violent Mike. I’m going to have to find some pretty Japanese girls to top Phase next week.
Always a Nick Diaz fan, losing a close fight to Carlos Condit does not mean that you were overrated. And utilising a smart strategy to win a fight does not mean that you're scared.
Mania misses dakatak.
lol
I’m having difficulties finding Japanese women with clothes on! If I posted all my collections, Jesse will ban me
