Matt Hughes comments on his next UFC fight and pending retirement (Video)
"Everything's good on my end. Still kinda laid back. I have started to work out, so we're sort of seeing how my body feels and this and that. But, as far as answering any questions about what I'm doing next or who I would be competing against next -- I don't know. Taking it back to Pat Miletich, who's basically a brother of mine, he had a loss on his last fight for a long time, and I was on him, 'Hey, get back in there!' I know. I've sparred with the guy. I've wrestled with the guy. He's a talent. So I was very happy for Pat to get back in there and get his hand raised and walk out. I'm under that mentality, so I definitely want to get in there and get my hand raised and then maybe call it quits. But I'm not the only deciding factor here. There's my wife on the other end, there's the UFC ... so, we just gotta come together and figure out what's going on."
Former UFC Welterweight Champion Matt Hughes, who hasn't been seen since going stiff at the hands of Josh Koscheck at the UFC 135 pay-per-view (PPV) last September, talks to Inside MMA about his next fight inside the Octagon and pending retirement. The fading legend doesn't want to retire on back-to-back knockout losses, but still has to sort through his personal life to make sure everything lines up the way he needs it to before committing to another full-time training camp. Anyone think this old dog still has some new tricks? Or is it time for Hughes to ride off into the sunset once and for all? How would you match him up if he came back?

What should his last fight be, maybe...
Matt Hughes vs Charlie Brenneman, only top 15 WW I can see him having a chance with nowadays. or the Jake Shields vs Sexyama loser.

i agree with both of these. hughes/shields would be a good fight i think

Or an awful stand up event. Not a good match up, IMO.
Mania is not quite Mania without Dakatak. Come back soon, Dak.

not saying it would be a good fight for the fans, as you said it would probably be a shitty kickboxing match
but it would be competitive

Sexyama would KO Matt in the first so not a good idea
Shields would be a better fight and Shields would definitely want the fight to add Matt to his resume. No chance of a Shields KO but fairly likely that he would get the sub.
Charlie of course would be the best possible matchup for Matt, Charlie has shit for standup he is basically all lay n hump which I don’t think he could do to Matt.

let him give Dan Hardy his fifth loss in a row
Hardy has been talking shit an I think that is a winnable fight for Matt. He has the wrestling for it and his chin should hold up against Hardy. He has been knocked out by Penn an Koscheck recently but they do have a lot of power and I think Hardys hands are overrated
Train hard to fight easy.
Hardy is very overrated in the standup department with that said Charlie Brenneman would be a better choice zero power just wrestling to deal with

I'd say give him one more fight just not elite competition
Josh Koscheck

BJ Penn

Thiago Alves

GSP

He was only fully out twice with the Kos and Penn KO.

If you think, you are late
If you are late, you use strength
If you use strength, you tire
And if you tire, you die
Matts a warrior
..hope to see him shut the haters up and go out w/a win. Good guy.
youre funny
If you think, you are late
If you are late, you use strength
If you use strength, you tire
And if you tire, you die
NOT
Generals gathered in their masses
Just like witches at black masses
Evil minds that plot destruction
Sorcerer of death's construction
In the fields the bodies burning
As the war machine keeps turning
Death and hatred to mankind
Poisoning their brainwashed minds
What's with the hate for the guy?
Is Matt Hughes not a warrior? Well he was at least.
Now, count up your crimes!

But we are in the fight game, what kinda lady gives of fuck if a modern day gladiator doesnt say everything the momma boys want .. Ok you guessed it , life long Hughes fan. lol stop the hate kids go back and watch some old school mma with hughes and learn the history of the sport. peace
