UFC on FOX 3: Alan Belcher vs Rousimar Palhares booked for May 5 in New Jersey

Looks like we have a "Situation" developing for the UFC on FOX 3 fight card, currently scheduled for May 5, 2012, at the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, NJ.
Middleweight striking machine Alan Belcher will try to keep his limbs out of harm's way when he tangles with Brazilian tree stump Rousimar Palhares for the promotion's pending return to network television, according to a recent tweet from UFC President Dana White.
Belcher (17-6) battled his way back from a career-threatening eye injury to finish Jason MacDonald at the UFC Fight Night 25 event held last Septmber in New Orleans. It was the third straight win for the hard-hitting "Talent," who could vault himself back "into the mix" with a win over the muscular menace this spring.
Easier said than done.
Palhares (14-3) is also riding three straight wins, having heel-hooked his way to victory over Mike Massenzio at the UFC 142: "Aldo vs. Mendes" pay-per-view event last month in Brazil.
Where does a win over Belcher put him in the division title chase?
UFC on FOX 3 will be headlined by a lightweight number one contender bout pitting Nate Diaz against Jim Miller while heavyweights Pat Barry and Lavar Johnson also sling leather on the action-packed fight card.
In addition, Josh Koscheck vs. Johny Hendricks will face off for a spot in the 170-pound pecking order.

Belcher is a pretty big dude. Definitely bigger framed than Sonnen and AS, but the height difference between Lomabrd?Paul HArris to belcher is tough to guage.

I am a rookie when it comes to grappling events. Why on earth would they restart in that position if there was no possible way for him to escape. Seems like you should be mad at the officials. Sounds like they made a dangerous decision.
From what I saw of the match (I did watch it on youtube)…They locked them back up into that position, Paul was ready to go and Avellan was gearing up in what appeared to be a real attempt to break the hold right on the start. To me (a novice) it looked like Paul cranked it not out of anger, but out of a desire to not let Avellan get out of it on such a weird restart.
