UFC on Fox 5 is up ahead and the pros' have gathered to make their predictions for this Saturday's main event. Specifically, lightweights that are currently under contract in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), during MMA Interviews with Spencer Lazara. The first event in December has seemed nothing short of tremendous. With champion Benson Henderson and Nate Diaz headlining the televised show-- Live on Fox.
Gray Maynard, who has a controversial victory over Diaz and suffered a defeat back in '07 during The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 5, has made his prediction. Also, "The Bully" was scheduled to fight Joe Lauzon at UFC 155 later this month, but had to pull out with an injury.
"Ben Henderson, he gets away with a lot of stuff because he's a lefty. So a lot of people don't know how to deal with that. Nate, he knows that, because of course, Nick and him spar all the time I bet. Ben Henderson better take him down I guess. I think Nate will win, he's doing good... if that happens I would like to fight Nate."
Donald Cerrone was defeated by Nate once back at UFC 141 last December and Benson Henderson twice in the WEC, shared his pick for this weekend's lightweight title fight. Cowboy Cerrone, is also aiming to get his own title shot by taking out former WEC champ Anthony Pettis at UFC on Fox 6
"If Nate's been fighting the way he's been fighting I think he's got a hell of a shot. As far as submitting Ben, it's gon' be hell. I'm pretty good at submissions and it's tough to submit that dude."
"I'm gonna go with Nate Diaz on this one. I love Ben, he's a good fighter. Equipped in all areas but Nate has the reach, the skills. I'm gonna give it to Nate."
"I'm going with Diaz. That's who I'm picking in this fight. They're both really talented guys, very tough guys. But Diaz is a hard guy to figure out. He's a tough guy and he's proven he's tough, fighting the top guys for a while now so that's who I'm picking in this fight but it should be a great fight I'm really looking forward to that one."
Joe Lauzon speaks about how the fight will go down and key factors he believes will play a big role in the showdown for the belt. Joe Lauzon is currently training to fight Jim Miller later this month.
"I think if Ben comes out kicking a lot, he'll make it tough on Nate. Nate's seemed to have some problems with people kicking him in the legs. But I think Nate's got a little bit better boxing probably a little bit better Jiu-Jitsu. But Benson kicks really hard and he does a really good job, so we'll see how that all plays out."
Frankie Edgar, after fighting Benson Henderson for 10 rounds I thought, what the hell, he hasn't officially dropped to featherweight and after all "The Answer" probably should have won that second match with the current champ. Frankie knows what Benson brings to the table, so who better to listen to? Frankie takes his pick in this interview.
"I think Nate's gonna be a problem for him. I really do I'm a big fan of Nate. I think Ben's obviously a great fighter. I think it's gonna be a high paced fight. Nate's length, his boxing. It's pretty tough. I think Nate should fight like he always fights. Just go forward, throw a lot of punches. For Ben, I don't know. He's gotta get some take downs, if he can, but he's gotta be weary for submissions."
Also, both fighters involved in the main event this weekend have given their take on how the bout may play out.
What's your prediction for the main event specifically? Can Nate Diaz take the title? Or will Benson Henderson use his speed and strength to outwork the challenger and chalk up his second defense?
