The UFC handed out its usual three bonus awards to fighters coming out of the TUF 16 Finale: "Nelson vs. Mitrioe" event last night (Sat., Dec. 15, 2012) in Las Vegas, Nevada, and all three were more than deserving.
The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 16 Finale: "Nelson vs Mitrione" from the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, has officially wrapped, which means it's time for those select fighters who went above and beyond in their respective fights to get a little extra grease for their efforts.
To the tune of $40,000 each.
The promotion dished out its standard post-fight monetary bonuses to four out of the 22 fighters on the card, and it's probably no surprise who's headed home with a second sack of simoleons.
In what has to be a first, the Jared Papazian vs. Tim Elliott bout was awarded "Fight of the Night" honors. I say it has to be a first because the final scores, 30-25, 30-25, and 30-26, would seem to indicate a dominant win for Elliott. Perhaps he's getting the extra $40K for that vicious illegal blow in the first?
But so is Papazian. Whatever.
T.J. Waldburger earned "Submission of the Night" by forcing Nick Catone to take a nap in round two of their welterweight bout while Pat Barry brought home "Knockout of the Night" thanks to the bruising he put on Shane Del Rosario in the main card opener on FX.
Here are the special fight bonuses for TUF 16 Finale:
Submission of the Night -- T.J. Waldburger
Knockout of the Night -- Pat Barry
Again, each fighter received $40,000 extra for their performances in addition to their respective base salaries, which we will pass along as soon as possible.
