The UFC handed out its usual three bonus awards to fighters coming out of the UFC on FX 6: "Sotiropoulos vs. Pearson" event last night (Fri., Dec. 14, 2012) in Gold Coast, Australia, and all three were more than deserving.
UFC on FX 6: "Sotiropoulos vs. Pearson" from the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre in Broadbeach, Australia, has officially wrapped, which means it's time for those select fighters who went above and beyond in their respective fights to get a little extra grease for their efforts.
To the tune of $40,000 each.
The promotion dished out its standard post-fight monetary bonuses to four out of the 20 fighters on the card, and it's probably no surprise who's headed home with a second sack of simoleons.
There was no submission on the card, so that extra cash was left on the table but Ben Alloway earned his extra cheddar in a big way, splitting Manuel Rodriguez's wig with a front kick and some follow up.
Cody Donovan and Nick Penner were awarded "Fight of the Night" honors for their thrilling back-and-forth war of attrition that saw Donovan get dropped twice in the early going only to make a furious comeback and knock Penner out with just 25 seconds left in the first round.
This one will make a "Greatest Comebacks" special down the road.
Here are the special fight bonuses for UFC on FX 6:
Submission of the Night -- XXX
Knockout of the Night -- Benny Alloway
Fight of the Night -- Cody Donovan vs. Nick Penner
Again, each fighter received $40,000 extra for their performances in addition to their respective base salaries, which we will pass along as soon as possible.
