It looks like Steven Seagal is slated to teach Anderson Silva more than just how to throw a front kick.
That's because the UFC Middleweight Champion is scheduled to make a cameo appearance in the Aikido master's next big Hollywood project, and no, it's not Spiderman.
World of the venture came via Silva himself, who spoke to Brazilian media conglomerate GLOBO, during a visit to the Abu Dhabi Formula 1 Grand Prix racetrack yesterday. Here's what he had to say (translated):
"I'm going to Los Angeles to record a movie with Steven Seagal. I'm very excited about this new phase. I'm preparing. I'm training thanks to Johnny Araujo, who is my supporter. You are helping me a lot."
Seagal has been linked to Silva for the past two years, oftentimes the butt of jokes about how he taught the current pound-for-pound best fighter on the planet everything he knows.
Silva most recently defeated a steroid enhanced Stephan Bonnar at UFC 153 just over three weeks ago in a non-title bout at light heavyweight. He last defended his title in July, defeating rival Chael Sonnen via second round TKO in the main event of UFC 148.
No word on whether or not filming for the movie will delay Silva's next potential title defense, which will likely be taking place in 2013.
This will not be Silva's first appearance in a movie. He was the star of the documentary "Like Water" which focused on his UFC 117 title defense against Sonnen and has previously appeared in the 2009 movies "Hell's Chain" and "Never Surrender."
What do you make of Silva's Hollywood ambitions, Maniacs?
