Tyrone Spong made it a successful mixed martial arts debut at WSOF 1: "Arlovski vs. Cole" tonight (Nov. 3, 2012) in Las Vegas, as he knocked Travis Bartlett out with a straight right hand.
Kickboxing legend Tyrone Spong made his mixed martial arts debut on the main card of the World Series of Fighting (WSOF) 1: "Arlovski vs. Cole" event tonight (Sat., Nov. 3, 2012) in Las Vegas, Nevada, taking on Travis Bartlett in a light heavyweight showcase.
The hype was heavy but could he live up to it?
Oh yes he could.
Spong went upstairs early, launching high kicks that were connecting clean with Bartlett's skull. The second sent both men flying, leaving Spong no time to get up and go in for the kill.
But he kept bringing the pain, backing Bartlett up against the cage with the quiet but confident determination of an assassin who has his mark between the cross hairs, just waiting to pull the trigger to bring an end to the cat-and-mouse game.
Finally, after another minute or so, Spong unleashed a straight right down the pipe that put Bartlett down for the count.
Welcome to MMA, Tyrone. Great to meet you.
