Mark J. Rebilas-US PRESSWIRE
Believe it or not, Cody McKenzie is still in the UFC and he's even got a fight booked against Mr. Swing Away himself, Leonard Garcia, at UFC 155 on Dec. 29 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Yes, you're reading that right, folks, Cody McKenzie is still gainfully employed by the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Not only that, he's still getting booked in bouts fight fans might actually care about.
A little bit. Bout a half cup.
This time, he'll take on Leonard Garcia on the preliminary card of the UFC 155: "Dos Santos vs. Velasquez 2" event scheduled for Sat., Dec. 29, 2012, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The UFC Twitter brought word of the pending contest.
McKenzie will enter the cage having lost three of his past four fights, all by way of finish, the last of which saw him drop in a heap of flesh and failure in just 31 seconds at UFC 148 thanks to a body punch from Chad Mendes.
Yes, he was finished in 31 seconds by a body shot.
Garcia has been even worse, losing four of his last five and three in a row. His saving grace is that Lorenzo Fertitta and Dana White like guys who "WAR," so his roster spot has remained secure. Falling victim to McKenzie, if that were to happen, would most certainly be the final nail in the coffin.
Right?
UFC 155 will be headlined by a heavyweight championship rematch pitting the two best fighters in the weight class, Junior dos Santos and Cain Velasquez, against each other in a colossal clash to ring in the new year at the UFC's annual year-end event.
