UFC ON FOX 5 PLAY-BY-PLAY LIVE "PRELIMS" UNDER CARD COMMENTARY (FX):
Braiterman here still!

Jeremy Stephens vs. Yves Edwards

Round one: Stephens opens with a jumping knee that doesn't land. Big right from Stephens that misses. They scramble in a clinch and Stephens fights off a single-leg from Edwards. Stephens swinging a lot, but hitting arms and air for the most part. Edwards ducks under and hits a glancing counter left. Stephens misses another jump knee. Stephens gets clipped by a BIG counter right and falls on his back. Edwards pounces and lands some BRUTAL short elbows that ends the consciousness of Jeremy Stephens. Replay shows that Stephens had his chin way up and Edwards landed perfect.

Final result: Yves Edwards has defeated Jeremy Stephens via KO (elbow) at 1:55 of round 1

-end-

Raphael Assuncao vs. Mike Easton

Round one: Slow start for the pair as they trade standing. High kick from Assuncao as Easton presses forward glacially. Punches in bunches, but not much landing for either guy. Assuncao lands a counter right. Easton misses a 1-2. And misses a low kick. Assuncao gets a front-leg high kick blocked and then nearly lands a rear one. Easton still walking forward with some weird shoulder movements. Assuncao nearly gets a takedown but Easton defends excellently. Assuncao gets Easton into the cage and they stall there for a bit. The round ends without much happening. Honestly, this is a 10-10 round as far as I'm concerned.

Round two: The second starts with a missed spinning kick from Assuncao and then one from Easton. Assuncao misses another big head kick and Easton presses forward attempting to counter, but doesn't land anything before Raphy gets out of danger. Assuncao leg kick gets checked, but again, Easton doesn't land the counter that he tries for. Easton seems to catch an inadvertent poke to the eye, but Rogan confirms that it was a punch as they review on the big screen. We'll have to take his word for it, as we, the viewer got nothing. Big left kick for Easton, and a right hand lands for Assuncao. Assuncao lands a low knee to the huge cup of Mike Easton and we have a break in the action. This gets Rogan set off on his standard cup rant. Thai cup and Diamond MMA with the compression shorts. Yup. Heard this many times before. We're back, and Assuncao looks like he's got his timing a bit better. Left hook and a front kick both land. Easton's takedown attempt gets stuffed and Assuncao throws another front kick, but one that misses. Assuncao feeling his oats a bit, as he starts weaving his hands. Spinning backfist from Assuncao misses, but Easton can't even get the takedown. Assuncao 10-9

Round three: Another tepid start to the round - not that they're not throwing anything, but Assuncao's defense has been very nice and his counters are pretty on-point. Easton isn't able to figure out the puzzle in the wily vet. Takedown attempt from Assuncao as he has a single against the cage. He tries for a double, back to a single... and he gets it for literally a second before Easton bounces right back up. Easton pushing forward and Assuncao tries another takedown, to the disconcert of the crowd. They break off the cage. Easton forward again, Assuncao with a front kick that misses, but Easton still can't land a counter at all. His timing in the standup has been horrible all night. Assuncao fails on another takedown, but this is eating time off the clock on a fight that Assuncao is probably winning. Eaton getting a bit desperate, and Assuncao counters him again. Slip from Assuncao and Eaton tries to make it a takedown, but Raphael fights it off again. The fight ends to the boos of the crowd. I have this 10-9 Assuncao again and on my card, it'd be 30-28. We'll see.

Final result: Raphael Assuncao has defeated Mike Easton via Unanimous Decision (30-27 and 29-28 x2)

-end-

Ramsey Nijem vs. Joe Proctor

Round one: TUF finalst loser Nijem (thanks for short names, finally) eats a right to start. Nijem runs Proctor into the cage. Nijem with a single while Proctor threatens a guillotine. Proctor uses it to back Nijem up and lands a couple of knees down. They trade wild, with Nijem grabbing a Thai plumm and swinging knees that mostly get blocked. Nijem with a huge jumping front kick that floors Proctor. Nijem swarming with punches and Nijem takes his back. Nijem gets a hook in and is landing punches to the left side of Proctor's back. Proctor defends the back control and scrambles to his feet. Back to a guillotine position for Proctor up against the cage, but Nijem breaks free. Nijem gets his left leg hooked in again. Proctor rolls out. They trade wildly again and Proctor hits a big right that staggers Nijem. Proctor muscles Nijem down into half guard and lands some GNP. Nijem throws a leg up, but gets nothing about it. North-south position ends the round with Proctor on top, but I have it 10-9 Nijem.

Round two: Proctor lands to open the round. Big left swing from Nijem, but eats a counter left. Proctor pushes him into the cage, Nijem hits a body kick that backs off Joe. 1-2 and a headkick all miss for Nijem. Proctor with a teep to the leg. Right for Proctor lands. Nijem backs him into the cage and gets the takedown after a struggle. Full guard for Proctor. Butterfly and Proctor pushes him off. Proctor with a punch from bottom and uses a leg to get Nijem on his back. Now Proctor on top going for a front choke. 50 seconds left in the round, guillotine position again for Proctor. Ramsey takes him down and pops his head out. Proctor looks for a Kimura with about 15 seconds left, and the round ends. 10-9 Proctor.

Round three: Proctor with good short punches. Nijem hits a left. Proctor tries for an armbar but Nijem rolls on top and lands in Proctor's half-guard. Light GNP from Nijem with punches to the left side of Proctor's body. Transitions to the back and gets some to the side of Proctor's head - and the back, which draws a verbal no-no from the ref. Nijem back on top. Proctor gets on top and is going for an arm. Nijem doing a good job of breaking down the posture and he gets out. Nijem lands some standing GNP and then gets back into half-guard, controlling and winning the round. The round has slowed down a lot. Proctor on top in north-south with 30 seconds left. Proctor and Nijem trading standing now as proctor is desperate. Nothing doing. 10-9 Nijem.

Final result: Ramsey Nijem has defeated Joe Proctor via Unanimous Decision (30-27 and 29-28 x2)

-end-

Daron Cruickshank vs. Henry Martinez

Round one: The Detroit Superstar (there really should be some kind of nickname review board to stop stuff like this), Daron Cruickshank is in the white vale tudo shorts, while his opponent, Henry Martinez is in the multi-colored green, black and white. Martinez comes out pressuring and backs Daron into the cage. Martinez certainly looks a little heavy and that explains the weight-cutting issue. Daron fends off Martinez on the cage and the ref breaks them. Henry pressing forward again with punches as Daron swings. Back against the cage again, with Daron stuffing all the singles from Martinez. Martinez breaks and lands a nice right in the scuffle. They swing wild at each other, and Cruickshank lands a spinning backfist and a knee that cuts Martinez's face. Daron hits a big body kick that hurts Martinez and he backs into the cage. Martinez eating a ton of shots as he turtles standing against the cage. The ref looks like he might have stopped it at any second, but chooses not to and Martinez eventually recovers and comes back swinging. Martinez is tough, but he's hurt bad. Henry firing gamely. Spinning heel kick to the leg for Daron. Big kick to the chest of Martinez hurts him again and Cruickshank swarms, trying to finish a staggering Martinez. He fails, but not for lack of trying. The kitchen sink is being thrown here as Cruickshank hits a big roundhouse, flying knee and Martinez is still there. Martinez finishes the round pushing Cruickshank against the cage, swinging a ton of short body shots. 10-9 Cruickshank.

Round two: Martinez pressuring. They break off the cage and Cruickshank hits a nice short right. Another about 30 seconds later is the next significant strike to land. Martinez with a left. Slower round with two minutes through so far, which makes my typing hands feel better - that first round was absurd. Side kick from Cruickshank and a front kick to the body. Right hand from Martinez. HOLY BADONKAS! HUUUUUUUUUUUGE RIGHT HEADKICK THAT SENT MARTINEZ INTO LA LA LAND! ONE SHOT KO!

Final result: Daron Cruickshank has defeated Henry Martinez via KO (headkick) at 2:57 of round 2

-end-

Marcus LeVesseur vs. Abel Trujillo

Round one: Ridiculous takedown almost off the bat from LeVesseur, but Trujillo scrambles back to his feet. Marcus has Abel backed into the cage, but Abel is defending the takedown well and elbowing the shoulder and ribs of Marcus. Marcus finally gives up the attempt at 3:20 left and they stall up against the cage. The ref breaks them up at 3:01. Abel throws a wicked punch and Marcus slips under for a single-leg. Abel defends well and Marcus has a body lock up against the cage. The crowd finally starts to get rowdy with a little under two minutes left. Abel landing big elbows to the rear shoulder and back of Marcus. Another ref break again. Marcus tries for a single again and Abel lands a BIG right knee as they bounce off the cage. Marcus survives hanging onto Abel's leg as the round ends. 10-9 Trujillo.

Round two: Marcus hits a counter right to start the round. Abel catches a kick and swings Marcus down. Abel goes for a guillotine and Marcus rolls, while Abel tries for a weird modified RNC before transitioning to a north-south choke. Marcus scrambles for a takedown and then they scramble up to their feet. Marcus hits a knee and a nice right, but a counter from Abel flattens Marcus. Abel pounces and lands solid GNP. Marcus defends a choke attempt and the punches, and about halfway through the round, they stand back up with Abel backing Marcus into the cage. Abel backs off and they reset. Abel stuffs a single, and while Marcus is persistent with the takedown, Abel ends the attempt with a nice spin and takes the back of Marcus. They're up against the cage now and Marcus is turtled. Abel hits a series of ENORMOUS knees to the right side of Marcus. Think GSP vs Serra. The ref warns Marcus to move, but he doesn't, so Abel hits some more GNP and another full-power knee to the liver and that's it.

Final result: Abel Trujillo has defeated Marcus LeVesseur via TKO (strikes) at 3:56 of round 2

-end-

Nam Phan vs. Dennis Siver

Round one: No intros for the two gentlemen. Siver opening up with a number of kicks, both low and high. Rogan comments that Siver is "light on his feet", which is pretty impressive for a guy who's got a torso that resembles a fire hydrant. About 75 seconds in, and it's been all Siver so far. He's outlanding him with punches to the head and kicks everywhere. Siver with a left hook, a kick gets blocked and another solid left hook. Phan looks close to a weight-class smaller than the German. Phan gets a good left, but Siver lands a couple precise ones. Front kick for Siver. Takedown for Siver, but he lets Phan back up after winging a couple of potshots down at him. Phan stuffs a takedown and Siver uses the scramble to land another punch. Leg kick by Phan. Fifteen seconds left and Siver glances a spinning kick into the liver of Phan. Siver with a leg kick as the round ends. 10-9 Siver, borderline 10-8, but not really all there.

Round two: Siver landing, but Nam finally gets some significant offense in with a solid hook. Siver stays in the pocket and lands solid on Phan. Nam hits the deck after a right, but it might have been a slip and Siver again lets him up. Phan with a glancing left and Siver misses a spinning back kick. Siver with a spinning back kick to the head that finally lands. Siver with the takedown into side control, but Phan regains half within seconds. Siver with good punches and elbows from top. Phan is looking like Mir in the second Lesnar fight. Siver is just chilling in half guard and raining down punches. Phan rolls for a second, but all it gets is Siver back to side control. Siver in mount. Phan regains half guard, but more big punches on the ground as the round ends. Again, 10-9 Siver and close to a 10-8.

Round three: Siver opening up at kicking range again. Phan swings, and Siver ducks under it, getting a fairly easy takedown. Siver back in a familiar half-guard. Phan tried to get full guard, but Siver mounts him. Phan regains half on the other side in short order. Elbows and big left hand punches from Siver as Phan tried to gain deep half for a sweep. Siver with painful short elbows, and Phan is bleeding onto the mat. Man... we're at 1:30 left in the match, and this entire round has been Siver elbowing and punching Nam Phan's dome through the floor. One minute left, and it sure looks like Siver is going to cruise to a ridiculously overwhelming decision. FX just put a graphic up on the screen, stating that Siver's landed 118 ground strikes. Add 40 more seconds of GNP into that, as Siver looks like a miniature tank with his arms raised in victory.

Siver just obliterdominated Phan in every single aspect of MMA tonight.

Final result: Dennis Siver has defeated Nam Phan via Unanimous Decision (30-24, 30-25 and 30-26) (!!!!!!)

UFC ON FOX 5 PLAY-BY-PLAY LIVE "PRELIMS" UNDER CARD COMMENTARY (FACEBOOK):
Like Pearl Jam (almost) used to say, "can't find a Braiterman" is here!

Scott Jorgensen vs. John Albert

Round one: Albert running the Gangam Style walkout music. Jorgensen coming out to a song I don't recognize. Sorry, I'm old (edit: I'm told it was Kid Cudi - Alive). Herb Dean in the cage, Arianny, showing off her cardboard (plastic?) holding skills. John originally stuffs a takedown from Scott, but Jorgensen wins the scramble and lands in Albert's guard. J.A. trying to throw his legs up but not getting anything. Albert with a ridiculous sweep and gets Jorgensen's back, threatening a rear-naked choke briefly before Scotty scrambles and lands back on top in guard. Jorgensen with a couple of good strikes from guard, but at about the 2:25 mark, Albert slaps on a triangle. Jorgensen is defending and rotating well, and after about 30 seconds, he's able to break the leg grip of Albert. Holy hell this is a good round so far. Jorgensen in side control, attacking an arm briefly before resigning himself to top control. Just as I said that, Albert works his way back into full guard. Jorgensen lands a nice punch from guard, while Albert continues to throw his legs up for triangle attempts. They scramble and Scotty takes his back. Albert tries to turtle, but Jorgensen gets a hook in, and then slaps on an INCREDIBLY tight RNC. Albert taps a split second before the horn! WOW!

Final result: Scotty Jorgensen has defeated John Albert via Rear Naked Choke at 4:59 (and 9/10ths) of round 1
