Ratings for last weekend's UFC 154 'Prelims' on FX are slightly down from October's UFC 153 event as a mere 980,000 people tuned in for the broadcast, ranking it eighth on the all-time list. However, Canada's Sportsnet garnered its best "Prelims" audience yet.
Ratings for the UFC 154 "Prelims" on FX are in, and with 980,000 viewers, the broadcast slides into eighth spot on the list of 12 FX shows that have aired on the network.
That number means the organization has televised five consecutive "Prelims" shows that have reached 1 million viewers or less, according to MMA Junkie. By comparison, the highest rated "Prelims" show thus far on FX was July's UFC 148 event, which drew 1.8 million viewers.
Up north? That's a different story.
In English Canada, the UFC 154 preliminary card was the most-watched UFC prelim ever on Sportsnet, attracting an average audience of 319,000 (2+). In French Canada, TVA Sports had an average audience of 177,000 (2+), according to MMA Weekly.
The UFC 154 prelims broadcast featured four bouts and was headlined by a middleweight contest between Patrick Cote and Alessio Sakara that, unfortunately, ended in a disqualification due to illegal strikes thrown by Sakara.
The 980,000 stateside mark isn't horrible, but considering the event was one of the biggest of the year for the organization with the return of UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre, analysts expected a higher number.
The next "Prelims" show on FX will take place prior to UFC on FOX 5: ‘Henderson vs. Diaz' from KeyArena in Seattle.
An estimated pay-per-view (PPV) buyrate for UFC 154: ‘St. Pierre vs. Condit' is unknown at this time.
