Miesha Tate called out UFC welterweight champ Georges St. Pierre for his "ignorant" stance on women's mixed martial arts (MMA), even gaining an unlikely ally in the process. Find out what Strikeforce champ Ronda Rousey had to say about "Tategate" right here.
Wait for it ... Tategate!
Strikeforce Women's Bantamweight Champion and soon to be Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fighter Ronda Rousey doesn't always get along with former division titleholder Miesha Tate, but there is one thing they happen to agree on.
Georges St. Pierre is ignorant about women's mixed martial arts (MMA).
Tate took the UFC welterweight champion to task for these comments, where he openly admitted he hasn't watched women fight and probably won't, because he's "old school." That didn't sit well with "Cupcake," who said "Rush" should at least watch them fight before commenting on whether it's good or bad.
To do otherwise, is just "ignorant."
St. Pierre, fresh off his UFC 154 title defense over Carlos Condit, may not have a choice if he's in attendance at future UFC events. It was revealed last week that Rousey -- along with Tate -- would be making their transition to the Octagon after Strikeforce closed up shop in January.
Maybe they'll even bump into each other in the halls of the ZUFFA corporate office.
Awkward!
