It appears that rumors or a growing rift between Team Quest fighters Chael Sonnen and Dan Henderson have been greatly exaggerated.
While Henderson may believe that Sonnen getting the title shot against UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones over the other list of suitable challengers loses integrity for the sport of MMA, that's not going to stop him from helping out a friend in need.
At least that's what Sonnen told Michael Landsberg on last night episode of TSN's Off the Record broadcast. Here's what he had to say verbatim:
"Henderson and I are obviously up to something, we're in cahoots. Henderson will be one of the coaches on this show with me and he will be cornering me on April 27th when I take what is rightfully mine, which is the light heavyweight championship."
Of course, in typical Sonnen fashion, the bold claims were made before anyone even told Dan Henderson about them. Thankfully Hendo a good sport and if Sonnen actually wants him to help out in either case, he'd be willing to do it. That's according to a text message conversation the former multi-divisional Pride champion had with MMA Fighting.
Henderson's official statement on the matter was:
"If he wants me there, I'm sure I would be there."
Who knows? Perhaps Chael can sigh Henderson up for a few classes of shit talking school.
