Georges St. Pierre finally returns to the Octagon tonight (Sat., Nov. 17, 2012) in the main event of UFC 154 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He'll look to unify his title with the Interim belt held by Carlos Condit, his latest challenger.
To hear him tell it, Georges St. Pierre is as terrified as it gets heading into his UFC 154 main event bout against Carlos Condit at the Bell Centre tonight (Sat., Nov. 17, 2012) in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He's got good reason, other than the fact that failure is his greatest phobia.
It's been 19 months since the last time he climbed inside the cage to compete professionally. Since then, he's suffered through a training camp that ended with a torn ACL and a grueling rehabilitation process that nearly sapped his will to continue his career.
He found the strength to go on eventually and now it's lead him here, once again headed for the Octagon and the next toughest test.
That comes in the form of Condit, a well-rounded veteran out of New Mexico with just one UFC loss on his record. That's one less than St. Pierre, though he's only had six fights with the promotion. It hasn't been all peaches and roses either.
He lost a split decision to Martin Kampmann before taking one over Jake Ellenberger. Add in the fact that he was on his way to a loss to Rory MacDonald before a last second technical knockout and his controversial decision win over Nick Diaz, and "The Natural Born Killer's" record isn't as good as you might think.
Still, it's good enough to get him here, standing across from one of the greatest fighters in the history of MMA. Is he good enough to win?
Stay tuned.
