Dennis Siver will have three weeks to prepare for a new opponent at UFC on FOX 5, now that Nam Phan has stepped in to replace the injured Eddie Yagin on Dec. 8 in Seattle.
Ask and you shall receive.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) featherweight Nam Phan has asked the world's largest mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion to let him fight Dennis Siver at the upcoming UFC on FOX 5 event scheduled for Dec. 8, 2012 at the KeyArena in Seattle Washington.
Request granted, according to MMA Fighting.
Phan (18-10) was campaigning for the open spot left by Eddie Yagin, who was forced to bow out of the network-televised event with a bruised brain. A win would mark two in a row for the former Ultimate Fighter (TUF) hopeful, who was last seen squeaking past Cole Miller at the UFC on FOX 4 event over the summer.
Siver (20-8) is not impressed.
That's because the German kickboxer has been doing some winning of his own, outworking Diego Nunes on FUEL TV a few months back to notch his fifth victory in six attempts. This will mark fight number 15 in his career after a UFC 70 debut over five years ago.
Time to shit or get off the pot.
UFC on FOX 5 will be headlined by a lightweight title fight between reigning 155-pound champion Ben Henderson against division number one contender Nate Diaz.
In addition, Alexander Gustafsson will try to move to the head of the light heavyweight class when he tangles with former 205-pound champion Mauricio Rua, while B.J. Penn vs. Rory MacDonald will meet in a welterweight scrap that pits the old school opposite the new.
