Glover Teixeira is training hard for his upcoming fight against Quinton Jackson at UFC on FOX 6 on Jan. 26 in Chicago. He's also training smart, bringing in friend and former "Rampage" opponent Lyoto Machida to help him with his scouting report.
Fast-rising Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight contender Glover Teixeira is gearing up for his biggest test to date when he takes on former division titleholder Quinton Jackson at the UFC on FOX 6 event, scheduled for Jan. 26, 2012 at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.
And he's leaving no stone unturned.
The Brazilian brawler is calling on friend and training partner Lyoto Machida to help prepare him for the ensuing "Rampage." After all, "The Dragon" knows a thing or two about Jackson, having gone three rounds with the former PRIDE star at the UFC 123 pay-per-view (PPV) event nearly two years ago in Michigan.
"I'll probably train in California, and I think Machida should be there, yes. I'll train with him a bit ... The expectation is for a tough fight. In the UFC, every guy is good, each has a good quality, so there's no easy fight. Sometimes you hit a strike and the fight gets easier, but all are difficult. I will prepare for the best Quinton Jackson."
Teixeira (19-2) is perfect through two fights under the ZUFFA banner, having recently brutalized Fabio Maldonado at the UFC 153 event last month in Brazil. Jackson (32-10), meanwhile, is trying to snap a two-fight losing streak after coming up short against Jon Jones at UFC 135 and then Ryan Bader at UFC 144.
Will training with Machida make a difference on fight night?
UFC on FOX 6 will feature a 125-pound world title fight between flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson vs. John Dodson in the main event of the evening, with a rumored match up between top lightweight contenders Donald Cerrone vs. Anthony Pettis also expected to hook 'em on the nationally-televised main card.
