The UFC on FUEL TV 6 card was full of decisions but the beautifully crushing knockout came in the main event when Cung Le caught Rich Franklin with a monster counter right hand for the win.
Rich Franklin returned to the middleweight division after four years away today (Sat., Nov. 10, 2012) in the main event of UFC on FUEL TV 6 in Macau, China, against former Strikeforce champion Cung Le.
Relevant to the division? Hardly. Just a fun fight between two old men with exciting styles to break the promotion into a new market.
Both fighters stayed patient early, neither wanting to make the first mistake, knowing it could prove to be near fatal.
As it turns out, that's exactly what happened.
That's because Franklin got a little lazy with a low kick and failed to protect himself against Le's counter, a right hand over the top that landed flush on "Ace's" chin. The resulting hit made Franklin spiral to the mat in a heap of unconsciousness. He was face down, ass up, knocked into next week.
What an unbelievable finish to what had previously been a tedious fight card.
Like I said, this wasn't much for divisional relevance but it was fun as all hell.
