UFC Macau: Cung Le will fight hurt against Rich Franklin

Mark J. Rebilas-US PRESSWIRE

Cung Le is going into his UFC Macau bout with Rich Franklin with an injured foot, but since the fight is in China and he's headlining, he's going to fight anyway.

Cung Le will headline his first Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) card on Nov. 10, 2012, from the Cotai Arena in Cotai Strip, Macau, China.

However, he says that if the event were being held somewhere else he wouldn't be fighting. He's got a hurt foot, but is willing to work through it for the chance to fight in what he calls the "birthplace of martial arts."

Le breaks it all down for Ariel Helwani:

"I didn't know how fast I was going to recover but I just did everything from ultrasound to blood letting where they draw blood out with cupping. I did that for like three weeks straight. I've kicked a couple of training partners in the head and that hurt but was ok. I'm hoping by fight time I'll be 100%. Definitely if this fight wasn't in Macau, China, even if I was in a main event somewhere else, I'd give myself the right amount of time so my foot could really heal. I feel like martial arts basically started from China and my roots are the Chinese martial arts. This is why I do it. I could just be doing movies, but I love to compete. I love to train martial arts. This is what I love to do. Here's my opportunity. To do it in China, it's awesome.

It's not pretty ... consider yourself warned.

Le will fight Rich Franklin in the main event of UFC on FUEL TV 6, marking the promotion's first foray into China. For all the latest news and notes on that click here.
