Bellator Fighting Championships returns TONIGHT (Oct. 26, 2012) to the Nutter Center in Dayton, Ohio, with the season seven welterweight tournament semifinals and a trio of exciting Ohio standouts.
MMAmania.com will provide LIVE blow-by-blow, round-by-round coverage of Bellator 78 below, beginning with the MTV2 telecast at 8 p.m. ET. In addition, we'll deliver up-to-the-minute quick results of all the undercard action much earlier in the evening (beginning at 6:00 p.m.) as well as a live stream of all the action.
Headlining the main event of Bellator 78 will be a Bellator season seven welterweight tournament semifinal bout between former welterweight champion Lyman Good and talented Russian prospect Michail Tsarev. This will be an excellent striker vs. grappler showdown between two men who were the most impressive in the quarterfinals.
Lastly, Ohio standouts will go to work as two-time middleweight tournament semifinalist Brian Rogers and featherweight number two contender Daniel Straus, who will battle Dominique Steele and Alvin Robinson respectively.

170 lbs.: Michail Tsarev vs. Lyman Good
Round one: Good immediately closes the distance, grabs a body lock and slams Tsarev to the ground. He's in top position in half guard and he quickly passes to side control. Tsarev tries to throw a few knees from his back but Good is all over him here. Good is thinking about passing to mount and he instead drops some heavy knees to the body. Good has Tsarev pressed against the fence and he drops some punches as Tsarev hooks a leg to semi-regain half guard. Now Tsarev has full guard but Good is still on top. Tsarev is trying to lock Good down defensively but Good starts throwing heavy punches and they're getting through. He's really throwing some heavy strikes from guard and Tsarev tries to kick him off but Good is now crouching over him and dropping big punches. Good passes to half guard and drops some punches to the body. Good again passes to side control with a minute left and now he passes to mount. Tsarev rolls into him and nearly sweeps him but Good escapes and dives back into his guard with a huge right hand. Good drops another right hand at the end of the round. 10-9 Good
Round two: Tsarev opens and he's throwing some kicks. He scores with a couple leg kicks and he keeps up with them. They don't look to be hurting him badly but Good rushes in for a clinch attempt and Tsarev escapes. Combination from Tsarev backs Good up and Good responds with a heavy leg kick. Good rushes in again but Tsarev fends him off and lands a nice right hand. Good steps forward and scores with a straight left but Tsarev lands a knee and again creates distance. Another kick from Tsarev and Good steps forward looking to throw punches. Body kick from Good and he rushes in, locking up Tsarev in teh clinch and then dumping him on the ground. Good passes to side control and he's dropping repeated right hands onto Tsarev. Good backs off and the ref allows Tsarev to stand up. Punch from Good and Tsarev might have eaten an eye poke. Tsarev backs off and something looks wrong. Good swarms him with a big flurry of punches and Tsarev wilts along the fence and the ref jumps in.
Final Result: Lyman Good defeats Michail Tsarev via TKO at 3:54 of round two
170 lbs.: Marius Zaromskis vs. Andrey Koreshkov
Round one: Zaromskis starts out stepping forward but Koreshkov backs him off with a heavy hook and a lunging knee. Head kick from Koreshkov grazes the top of Zaromskis' skull and he wings a big pair of hooks to back him off again. Zaromskis goes back to stepping forward and he throws a pair of hooks but they come up just short. Spinning back kick from Koreshkov and Zaromskis catches it and throws him to the ground but he allows him back to his feet. Head kick from Koreshkov is blocked but Koreshkov scores with a right hand as Zaromsksi keeps stepping forward. Uppercut from Koreshkov lands and then a huge left hook wobbles him badly. Koreshkov swarms Zaromskis and just lays into him with massive left hands on the ground until the referee intervenes. Daaaaaamn.
Final Result: Andrey Koreshkov defeats Marius Zaromskis via TKO at 2:14 of round one
145 lbs.: Alvin Robinson vs. Daniel Straus
Round one: Robinson steps forward but Straus shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Robinson is thinking about a guillotine choke but Straus is fending him off pretty well for now. They get back to standing and Robinsion is still thinking about the choke but Straus slips out and drags him to the ground with a nice takedown. Robinson pops up and he's on the offensive but Straus grabs a Kimura and he's got Robinsion's arm straightened out. Straus tries to sweep but Robinson stays on top. Straus is turtle and Robinsion drops a knee and a punch but nothing significant. Straus keeps driving forward and now he's got Robinson on the defensive and they get back to their feet. Straus has Robinson pressed into the fence and he throws Robinson to the ground and he's on top in side control. Straus drops a few short elbows from above and he puts knee on belly thinking about the mount. As he tries to pass, Robinson times him and retains guard. Robinson attempts a guillotine choke but Straus slips free easily and he attacks with a choke in the final 10 seconds but can't lock it in quick enough to get the finish. 10-9 Straus but it was close.
Round two: Straus presses forward with his striking, scoring with a heavy left hand and a pair of kicks which back Robinson up into the fence. Straus uses the opening to shoot in on him and he gets the takedown, landing in half guard on top. Straus drops some left hands from above and he's thinking of attacking Robinson's neck as Robinson turtles and Robinson briefly pops back to his feet before dropping down again. Robinson again gets to his feet but he doesn't have much of a base as Straus has a good hold on him along the fence with double underhooks. Straus scores a takedown, this time landing in side control. Big left hands from Straus force Robinson to turtle and he nearly takes his back but Robinson pops to his feet. Straus still has a body lock and he lifts Straus up, slamming him to the ground with authority. Straus is still on his back with a hook in and nhe nearly has the choke but can't get the hip pressure to secure it. Straus now has a body triangle and he sinks he flattens Robinson out, dropping heavy punches. This creates and opening and Straus sinks in the choke, forcing Robinson to tap out with just seconds remaining in the round.
Final Result: Daniel Straus defeats Alvin Robinson via submission (rear naked choke) at 4:51 of round two
185 lbs.: Brian Rogers vs. Dominique Steele
Round one: Both men circle early and Rogers lands a huge right hand which staggers Steele. Rogers pours it on but Steele recovers and they reset. Rogers is being pretty patient in the cage center waiting for Steele to make the first move and Steele doubles up his jab. Combination from Rogers is blocked but a right hand up the middle staggers Steele. Steele shoots in but gets stuffed easily. Steele backs Rogers off with a huge hook but he leaves himself open for a counter. Steele's lip is completely busted open and he's bleeding in his mouth pretty bad. Body kick from Steel scores and Rogers responds with a big leg kick. Steele lunges in with a straight right and eats a big right hand from Rogers. They clinch and Steele lands a right hand on the exit to back off Rogers. Steele presses forward and Rogers scores with some short inside punches and lands a knee to the body on the inside before time expires. 10-9 Rogers.
Round two: Both men posture in the cage center with only a very short exchange in the first minute. Rogers is pacing himself and he lands with a right hand but backs off. Big flurry from Rogers scores but Steele shoots in and initiates a clinch to halt his progress. Rogers lands a heavy elbow on the exit and they reset. Steel presses forward and throws a knee which forces Rogers to go on the defensive briefly and the crowd explodes. They're definitely behind him. Steele steps forward with a straight left jab and then a left to the body but he eats a right hand counter. Heavy leg kick lands for Rogers and Steele leaps forward with a flying knee which misses but gets the crowd riled up. Big kick lands for Rogers again but Steele counters with an overhand right. Another leg kick from Rogers grazes and then Rogers scores with a superman punch. Steele shoots in and clinches as time expires. 10-9 Rogers
Round three: Steele has the cage center and he's throwing some lazy jabs and Rogers makes him pay with a counter flurry. Big leg kick from Rogers but Steele comes over the top with a right hand and then presses him into the fence. Big elbow from Rogers on the exit and Steele's face is all swolen up. Steelee steps forward but Rogers hurts him with a right hand. Another huge right hand lands for Rogers and Steele's mouthpiece goes flying. Rogers swarms but Steele hangs in there and gets his mouthpiece back in. They reset and Steele throws an overhand right but Rogers blasts him with a right of his own. Blood is pouring out of Steele's face right now. Steele clinches but Rogers backs him off after about 30 seconds. Two minutes to go and Steele needs a miracle. More big counter punches from Rogers and they both trade leg kicks. Both men land heavy punches on the inside and Steele steps forward but he can't land anything significant. Leg kick from Steele is countered with a right hand from Rogers. Another right hand backs Steele up. Rogers misses with a right and a big knee and Steele lunges with a flying knee but whiffs. They clinch again and Rogers attempts a throw but can't toss Steele as time expires. 10-9 Rogers
Final Result: Brian Rogers defeats Dominique Steele via unanimous decision (30-27 x3)
