Chael Sonnen: Jon Jones should have moved to heavyweight when he had the chance

UFC smack talk specialist Chael Sonnen has talked his way into yet another title shot. This time versus light heavyweight champion Jon Jones after their stint as coaches on TUF 17. Let the trash talk begin!

Unless, you've been under a rock for the past 24 hours, or you're just now getting up to speed, you're probably well aware of the breaking news that Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Light Heavyweight champion Jon Jones will coach opposite everyone's favorite bigmouth, Chael Sonnen, in the upcoming season of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF).

Following the season's completion, "Bones" will defend his title against Sonnen on an April 2013 card, with other bouts yet to be named. The announcement comes as somewhat of a surprise and would appear to further cement the notion that a "super fight" between Jones and UFC Middleweight champion Anderson Silva is simply not going to happen.

Sorry fight fans. It looks like UFC President Dana White was unable to find a price point that would convince "The Spider" to do battle with "Bones," in what likely would have been the biggest mixed martial arts (MMA) fight of all time.

Instead, we'll have to settle for what will at least be a very amusing hype build up from Sonnen, who may fail in other endeavors, but getting under his opponents' skin has never been a feat with which he's ever had any difficulty.

Sonnen appeared on FUEL TV's "UFC Tonight," where he, first, spoke to the questions regarding how this fight was able to be put together by the powers that be:

"I don't know. Here's the bottom line, he should not have been pressured into this. I did everything I could to warn this guy. I told him ‘Hey I'm coming to the division' and he should have packed up and left it. He talked about going to heavyweight and he should have done it because now he's waited too long and the man has arrived."

As usual, Sonnen had no shortage of kind words for his opponent, immediately re-launching his prior mud-slinging campaign, and stating that Jones is nothing more than an "entitled brat:"

"Listen, here is what you need to know. This show [The Ultimate Fighter] has some tremendous young talent on it. I will be taking 50 percent of that talent and teaching them how to fight. The other half is going to be taught how to be selfish, entitled brats like Jones. The good news is that when it is all over, I'm sure Coach Jones will throw a hell of an after-party."

Sonnen will surely be a massive prohibitive underdog in his fight versus Jones. On paper, his skill set will be dwarfed. He will be on the wrong side of a size and speed disadvantage, and there will be very few picking him to win.

That's of little importance to Sonnen, who has his tunnel vision set on Jones' belt -- or at least the title of "worst freestyle rapper, ever:"

"What you need to know, Todd, and what Jon already knows, is that I got the biggest arms, I got the greatest charm and I do the most harm. I'm better than Jon Jones, I'm better than Sean Combs and I'm better than John Holmes. And little Jon Jon, the little leprechaun, has my belt I'm coming to take."
