Hey my name is Skyler Swan, I am an 18 year old Amatuer Mixed Martial Artist. I will try to post my predictions of the UFC cards and my post fight Match-Making.
Reza Madadi (12-3) (1-1 UFC)
Reza Madadi lost a very close Split Decision to Cristiano Marcello Saturday with many people thinking that Madadi had won the fight, I still think that Madadi has a very bright future in the UFC. Most people thought that Madadi was going to run through Marcello and take another step up the ladder at the stacked UFC Lightweight division but now he is going to have to take a step back and the perfect opponent I see for his next opponent should be Marcus Levesseur (22-6) (1-1 UFC). I think this would be a step up in competition for Lavesseur but with both having an even UFC record, I think this would be a good match-up.
Cristiano Marcello (14-5) (2-2 UFC)*
Cristiano Marcello won a close but controversial Split Decision over the aforementioned Reza Madadi at Saturday nights UFC 153, in doing so he got to keep his job in the stacked UFC Lightweight division. Marcello won his entry fight to gain entry into the first and only Ultimate Fighter: Live season by defeating Jared Carlsten (3-2) By Rear Naked Choke in the First Round. He was subsequently Urijah Faber's Second pick and was later picked to fight Dominick Cruz's First overall pick, in the showdown of the season. Lawrence went on to defeat Marcello by Knockout in the Second Round, and derailing his hopes of becoming the next Ultimate Fighter. In the finale Marcello was paired up against the heavy handed Sam Sicilia, who defeated him by Second Round Knockout. Now coming off a huge upset win over Reza Madadi, the next person I would like to see the former Chute Boxe Grappling Coach go up against should be Fabricio Camoes (14-7) (1-2-1 UFC). Both being Black Belts in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, it would be a good chess game if the fight makes it to the floor. This would be Camoes first fight back since losing to Melvin Guillard.
Luiz Cane (12-5) (4-5 UFC)
Luiz Cane is coming off a rough stretch in his UFC career going 1-4 in his last five fights. A once promising Light Heavyweight who at one time was 3-1 in the UFC with his only loss coming by DQ against James Irvin and wins over Jason Lambert and Sokoudjou. After losing three out of his last four fights, with all three losses coming by way of Technical Knockout, Cane dropped down to a more natural weight of 185, debuting at 185 against Ultimate Fighter Alumni Chris Camozzi (18-5) (6-2 UFC*) and dropping a Unanimous Decision. After losing Four out of his last Five fights, I think that Cane will have to pick up a couple wins on the regional circuit or back home in his native Brazil before taking another fight in the biggest mixed martial arts promotion in the world.
Chris Camozzi (19-5) (6-2 UFC)*
Chris Camozzi, a former Ultimate Fighter Season 11 competitor, won his third fight in a row Saturday night picking up a Unanimous Decision against the always tough Luiz Cane. Camozzi won his entry fight to get into the Ultimate Fighter House against highly touted Victor O'Donnell (11-5) by Unanimous Decision but after the grueling three round fight, where O'Donnell suffered a broken orbital bone, Camozzi had to exit the house with a fractured jaw. Derailing his chances of becoming the Ultimate Fighter Season 11 winner. After the show, Camozzi was asked back for the Finale against James Hammortree (6-3) who he went on to defeat by Unanimous Decision. After the Finale fight, he was then asked to fight prospect Dongi Yang, who he went on to defeat by way of controversial decision. Then he was set to fight another Ultimate Fighter 11 contestant Kyle Noke, who defeated Camozzi by Rear Naked Choke in the First Round. After the Noke fight, Camozzi was then released by the UFC but after picking up a Split Decision win over veteran fighter Joey Villasenor, he was then signed to another UFC contract. In his return fight to the promotion he was paired up against the highly regarded Francis Carmont who beat him by Unanimous Decision. Since the Carmont set back, Camozzi has won three straight fights against Dustin Jacoby, Nick Catone and then against Luiz Cane. For his next fight I think Camozzi should take on Ronny Markes (13-1) (2-0 UFC). Camozzi has taken on some tough competition and being on a three fight win streak, I think Ronny Markes would be the perfect opponent.
Renee Forte (8-3) (1-2 UFC)*
Renee Forte is coming off a Rear Naked Choke loss to Sergio Moraes in the Third Round, in a fight where he was out classed on both the feet and the ground and now with two straight losses he may get his pink slip from the promotion. Before the Moraes fight, Forte gained entry into the Ultimate Fighter house by defeating Fabio Luiz Vital de Costa (9-1) by Unanimous Decision and then was paired up against Daniel Sarafian (10-2) who defeated him by Rear Naked Choke in the Second Round. After a disappointing performance on the preliminary card, Forte's contract with the UFC may be terminated. If not the man I think that Forte should fight next would be Caio Magalhaes (5-1). Magalhaes is coming off a debut loss against Buddy Roberts by Unanimous Decision, the loser of this fight would surely be released from his UFC contract.
Sergio Moraes (9-3) (3-2 UFC)*
Sergio Moraes is coming off an although not spectacular, dominant Rear Naked Choke victory over his Ultimate Fighter Brazil counterpart Renee Forte (8-3). Moraes won his fight to get into the Ultimate Fighter house by defeating Thiago Rela (4-2) by Heel Hook in the First Round, after making his way into the house he was paired up against IFL veteran Delson Heleno (24-8) by First Round Submission and then making his way to the semi-finals taking on Daniel Sarafian, who went on to defeat Moraes by Knockout in the First Round, knocking Moraes out of the tournament. After Daniel Sarafian received an injury in training Sergio Moraes was chosen to replace Sarafian against Cezar Ferreira in the Co-Main Event of UFC 147. It was the first time that an Ultimate Fighter contestant was the Co-Main Event of a pay-per view. He went on to give a valiant effort but in the end lost a Unanimous Decision to Cezar Ferreira. The next match-up that I feel is perfect for Sergio Moraes would be Clifford Starks (8-1) (1-1 UFC).
Joey Gambino (9-2) (0-2 UFC)
Joey Gambino is coming off a hard fought loss against the Ultimate Fighter 14 Featherweight winner Diego Brandao (18-8). Gambino fought his heart out but at the end of the day Brandao is just the better fighter. In his first fight for the promotion the highly regarded Gambino was paired up against another Ultimate Fighter Season 14 contestant Steven Siler (22-10) who defeated Gambino by Guillotine Choke in the First Round. Now coming off two losses in the promotion the only thing I think may save Gambino is his toughness in the Brandao fight and his reputation before making his debut in the promotion. If Gambino gets another chance in the UFC, the opponent I would like to see him go against would be against Jason Young since he hasnt yet been released. The loser of the fight would get his pink slip from the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Diego Brandao (18-8) (5-1 UFC)*
Diego Brandao rebounded from his first UFC loss by defeating Joey Gambino by Unanimous Decision during UFC 153's preliminary card. Brandao won his first fight on the Ultimate Fighter Season 14 knocking out Jesse Newell (6-3) in devastating fashion putting all of the fighters in the house on notice. For his next fight Brandao took on Steven Siler, who defeated early season favorite by Guillotine in the Third Round. Brandao again won by knock out against Siler in impressive fashion. Then Brandao was matched up against Bryan Caraway who Brandao also knocked out in the First Round. In the Finale Brandao was paired up against Dennis Bermudez, Bermudez put up a good fight against Brandao dropping Brandao while he was coming in, but eventually was dropped himself and succumbed to a First Round Armbar. In his First Fight after the show, Brandao was paired up against tough wrestler Darren Elkins who wrestled his way to a Unanimous Decision over the Ultimate Fighter winner. Now looking to keep his streak alive, I think Brandao should take on another Ultimate Fighter Alumni Nam Phan, who participated on Season 12 of the Ultimate Fighter.
Francisco Trinaldo (12-3) (1-2 UFC)*
Francisco Trinaldo is a Gigantic Lightweight who went on the Ultimate Fighter: Brazil as a Middleweight. Trinaldo won his fight to make it in the house by defeating Charles Maicon (9-2) by First Round Technical Knockout. In his second fight in the house he fought Thiago Bodao, and Trinaldo's skill was not enough to overcome the size of Bodao, who beat him by Second Round Technical Knockout. After the show Trinaldo took on IFL veteran Delson Heleno (24-10) and defeated him by First Round Technical Knockout. After the Finale Trinaldo was set to face another huge Lightweight in Gleison Tibau, after a back and forth fight where Trinaldo almost knocked Tibau out in the Second Round but ultimately lost a Unanimous Decision. The next opponent I think Trinaldo should take on should be Terry Etim. Trinaldo has already overcame the experience factor so I think he would fare well against Terry Etim and it would make it a good fight.
Gleison Tibau (26-8) (11-6)
Gleison Tibau rebounded from his UFC 148 loss by Unanimous Decision to Khabib Nurmagomedov with a Unanimous Decision win of his own over Ultimate Fighter: Brazil contestant Francisco Trianldo. Tibau had his 17th UFC fight Saturday and improved his record in the UFC to 11-6, before the loss Tibau was on a 3 fight win streak over the likes of Kurt Pellegrino, Rafaello Oliveira, and Rafael Dos Anjos. Tibau one of the longest standing veterans in the UFC should now take on another long time UFC veteran Thiago Tavares (17-4).
Sam Sicilia (12-3) (2-2)*
Sam Sicilia a veteran of Season 15 of the Ultimate Fighter took on the Ultimate Fighter: Brazil Featherweight winner on Saturday night. In one of the most interesting fights of the night, in a back and forth fight, Sicilia succumbed to a Second Round Technical Knockout from the Ultimate Fighter winner. To get into the Ultimate Fighter House, Sicilia had one of the most impressive Ultimate Fighter knockouts of recent memory knocking Erin Beach seconds into the First Round. Sicilia was then selected Second overall by Dominick Cruz and was picked to face off against Faber overall last pick Chris Saunders, losing by a controversial Split Decision. Sicilia was selected to face off against Cristiano Marcello on the season Finale, winning the fight by Second Round Knockout. The next opponent I think Sicilia should face off against should be Leonard Garcia. If you dont think this would be a good fight, there has to be something wrong with you. May not be the most technical but it would surely be a brawl and someone would get their head taken off.
Rony Mariano Bazerra (15-3) (5-0)
Rony Mariano Bazerra has one of the brightest futures in the UFC Featherweight division since running through his competition on the Ultimate Fighter: Brazil. In one of the most entertaining fights of the night, Rony "Jason" Bazerra and Sam Sicilia went to war for a round and a half before "Jason" took out Sicilia with a Second Round Technical Knockout. For his next fight I would like to see "Jason" take on Marcus Brimage another Ultimate Fighter contestant from Season 14 of the Ultimate Fighter.
