Strikeforce kicked off its 2012 fight campaign with the "Rockhold vs. Jardine" event that took place last night (Sat., Jan. 7) at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The show featured Middleweight Champion Luke Rockhold successfully defending his title with a first round knockout win over longtime veteran Keith Jardine. He then proceeded to call out any of the 185-pound fighters in the UFC and challenged them to come on over to the Hexagon to get busy.
In other action, Robbie Lawler knocked out Adlan Amagov with a flying knee that looked as though it hardly landed. Nonetheless, it did enough to let Robbie follow up with some "Ruthless" punches that finished the job.
Muhammed Lawal also earned a knockout victory, as he ran through rising prospect Lorenz Larkin on his way back to the light heavyweight crown. "King Mo" went on a "rampage" at the post-fight press conference, calling everyone out from Quinton Jackon to Gegard Mousasi to referee Kim Winslow, who Lawal felt failed to uphold her duties last night.
With the ink having just dried on his new four-fight contract, we can expect more of the same throughout the rest of the year.
