The Strikeforce: "Rockhold vs. Jardine" event live on Showtime tonight (Sat., Jan. 7, 2012) in Las Vegas, Nevada, featured a middleweight bout that was supposed to provide plenty of fireworks for fans at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.
Indeed, Robbie Lawler was back in action against Adlan Amagov, two strikers who were likely to stand and trade until one of them fell down.
That's not exactly what happened, at least not at first, but eventually Lawler landed what looked to be a spectacular flying knee that garnered him yet another first round knockout win.
After all the grappling earlier in the night, this was a welcome finish, no doubt.
To the shock and dismay of many, Amagov opened the bout ducking underneath Lawler's shots and grabbing a takedown. He worked a guillotine once he got Robbie to the floor but unfortunately, he used it to land an illegal knee to a downed opponent.
Lawler took a minute to compose himself but eventually got back in the fight.
And, just a few seconds later, launched a flying -- legal -- knee of his own and it landed just enough to put Amagov down. Follow up punches to the side of the head was enough to force a stoppage.
"Ruthless" Robbie is back with another first round knockout win. Always fun.
