Two winners from different seasons of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF), Mac Danzig and Efrain Escudero, will collide at UFC 145, which is scheduled to take place at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, on March 24, 2012.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) today announced the the lightweight match via its official Twitter.com profile.
TUF 6's Danzig dropped a unanimous decision to Matt Wiman in his most recent appearance at UFC on Versus 6 in Oct. 2011, which was a rematch from a submission loss to "Handsome" 16 months prior, during which the referee incorrectly stopped the bout in the opening frame.
Sandwiched between the two losses to Wiman, Danzig knocked out Joe Stevenson in less than two minutes at UFC 124 back in Dec. 2010.
TUF 8's Escudero, meanwhile, recently returned to the mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion just a few days ago (Dec. 30, 2011), getting outwrestled by Jacob Volkmann at UFC 141 en route to a unanimous decision loss.
However, "Hecho en Mexico" was a short notice replacement for T.J. Grant, who injured himself in training. Escudero, who was surprisingly cut after a submission loss (rear naked choke) to Charles Oliveira back in Sept. 2010, notched an impressive record (5-1) outside the Octagon before being invited back.
It's safe to assume that he will want to do Danzig dirty to avoid the ax once again.
UFC 145 is still without a main event; however, Rory MacDonald vs. Che Mills, Ben Rothwell vs. Brendan Schaub, Travis Browne vs. Chad Griggs and Mark Hominick vs. Eddie Yagin, among others, have been announced for the event at this time.
