You're looking at the Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden, home to the UFC on FUEL TV 2 event on April 14, 2012.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) today (Jan. 4) unveiled the latest addition to its ambitious 2012 line-up with UFC on FUEL TV 2, the second entry into the cable television network's live mixed martial arts programming on April 14 at the Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden.
Today's announcement, made during the UFC 142: "Aldo vs. Mendes" media conference call, did not reveal any potential match-ups; however, Swedish-born star Alexander Gustafsson, victorious over Vladimir Matyushenko at UFC 141 on Dec. 30, is likely a leading candidate.
USA Today has more:
Officials for UFC in recent years saw Scandinavia emerge as the brand's leading untapped market in Europe. Fans in Sweden and Norway have become knowledgeable about mixed martial arts, said Marshall Zelaznik, UFC's managing director of international development.
Europe had been a point of emphasis for UFC in 2009 and 2010, with shows in Ireland, the United Kingdom and Germany in those two years. But UFC visited Europe just once in 2011, while focusing on other regions such as Canada, Australia and Brazil to accommodate a surge of interest in those areas.
Alright Maniacs, we know the UFC is heading to Sweden and we also know where we can watch it. Anyone feel a little bogged down with all the upcoming events? Or is there no such thing as too many free fights?
Stay tuned to MMAmania.com for upcoming fight announcements to this still-developing fight card.
