This according to UFC President Dana White, who confirmed to Fuel TV during a recent appearance on the UFC Tonight show that if he can book Chael Sonnen vs. Anderson Silva part duex, he would do so in Brazil:
"If we can get Chael Sonnen versus Anderson Silva, that will probably be held in Brazil in a stadium. Everyone in the world will want to watch that."
Indeed, there's no doubt that bout would be one of the biggest selling fights of the year but it's entirely possible there's no chance of it ever taking place.
That's because Sonnen is currently booked to take on Mark Munoz at UFC on Fox 2 on Jan. 28, 2012, in Chicago, Illinois. "The Filipino Wrecking Machine" is no pushover and shouldn't be counted out, even if it kind of sort of sounds a little bit like that's what White is doing.
Or he just can't help but see the dollar signs when thinking of the kind of business he could do by sending Sonnen into the belly of the beast in Brazil to try to take the middleweight title from one of the country's most powerful representatives, Silva.
There's little doubt that we all want to see it but there's definitely question marks regarding Munoz's ability to play spoiler and ruin the whole thing. Anyone think White is overlooking Munoz here? Or is Sonnen going to run right through him and keep on going until he gets to Brazil?
Opinions, please.
