Underwater 'UFO' resembling Millennium Falcon found in the Baltic Sea

Image_medium

Sorry Maniacs, I know it's not MMA related, but as a Star Wars geek I had to post this.

From CNN.com:

"I have been doing this for nearly 20 years so I have a seen a few objects on the bottom, but nothing like this," said Lindberg.

"We had been out for nine days and we were quite tired and we were on our way home, but we made a final run with a sonar fish and suddenly this thing turned up," he continued.

Using side-scan sonar, the team found a 60-meter diameter cylinder-shaped object, with a rigid tail 400 meters long.

The imaging technique involves pulling a sonar "towfish" -- that essentially looks sideways underwater - behind a boat, where it creates sound echoes to map the sea floor below.

On another pass over the object, the sonar showed a second disc-like shape 200 meters away.

Lindberg's team believe they are too big to have fallen off a ship or be part of a wreck, but it's anyone's guess what could be down there.

"We've heard lots of different kinds of explanations, from George Lucas's spaceship -- the Millennium Falcon -- to 'it's some kind of plug to the inner world,' like it should be hell down there or something.

"But we won't know until we have been down there," said Lindberg.

Anybody wanna take a guess?

Big pile of mud? Or Ancient Aliens?

something insane like that. So it doesn’t surprise me that we’re gonna find weird shit down there. Look up the “Bloop” in regards to the Navy, they tracked a huge living animal for hours before it went too deep to be tracked. Size of a whale, but it never surfaced. Creepy huh?

not that farfetched at all

Humans are full of ego. We make audacious claims about how only kooks would believe in aliens, while still not knowing much about our own oceans, still discovering new species of animals, bugs and the like everyday. A few years back we found a population of over 125,000 lowland gorillas in the congo….a species previously thought to almost be extinct. Fucking gorillas man.

Not to long ago we thought the world was flat.

it was only heard (by different mics seperated for over 3000 miles) but no one ventures to guess state what the fuck it was. Since it was never heard again, it would be hard to state it was the size of a whale. Just similar range in lenghtwave but no one knows for sure.

Problem is the deeper you go the smaller things get

The big stuff is mid-top range, you go lower than that where there’s no light and it definatley does get weirder but there’s not enough food down there to sustain a huge whale like animal. That’s where the term “bottom feeder” comes from, when leftovers make their way down to the bottom that’s what the stuff down there eats.

yep

When reading about “monsters” in Loch Ness or Lake Champlain, it is almost impossible for a real sighting to have not occured as these large beasts would need to surface feed every single day to sustain that kind of mass. They need to be warm blooded and therefore have a really hiugh metabolism at that size.

Meh, I'm no expert, but I do know that when you get to the parts that are considered the "deep ocean"

You’re dealing with -5 degree C temps, no sunlight and crazy amounts of pressure. While he might be right that there is enough material down there if you put it all together to feed something large, the liklihood that something that large could find enough of it on a daily basis to sustain itself is not high imo.

With the overfishing of our waters on this planet

I can’t see it.

Hell, we found a Celacamph (sp?) that was thought to be extinct for centuries, so it is possible, but I would be more inclined to believe that the fish found would be smaller, not larger. Throw in the number of submaries traveling around the globe by the superpowers, and it is even harder for me to believe in something of significant size out there that we have not encountered.

this is from another article on the BLOOP

“The submarine’s crews also inferred (through Doppler shift measurement) that some of these noises were being produced by objects travelling at over 200 kilometers (125 miles) an hour. To this day, the sources of the sounds remain unknown.”

This was around the same time that the bloop was recorded.

Whales primarily eat krill or small fish which feed on zooplankton or photoplanton that are reproducing at astronomical rates due to photosynthesis and are very near the surface or the epipelagic zone. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pelagic_zone
The deeper you get, the less, light, the less photoplankton and zooplankton, the less krill.

That is why whales are sighted on the surface. They are feeding on the photoplankton or zooplankton

I don't think he specifically means plankton, he's tryin to say "whales feed on microscopic organisms, hence there is enough food at the bottom to sustain a large animal."

Which might be true until you look at how much is really down there per square mile and how much something of the “sea monster” size needs to eat needs to eat per day to sustain itself. Without sunlight, there is no photosynthesis, and without phytoplankton to kick start the food web, animal life is sparse.

Overall, life is hectic.

I’m glad to be back to training again, and actually getting back into a schedule of it. Just got a treadmill in my basement too, so that helps when I can’t get out to train.

A couple of the guys I train with fought this past weekend. Two of them were supposed to, but one had an issue with a heart murmur and had to pull out. Then at the weigh ins there was a no show so one of my other guys stepped up and making his debut. It ended in a NC due to an accidental cup shot when the other fighter couldn’t continue.

The other fighter won by armbar in the third round, making his record 3-1 and he’s on a 3 fight streak.

I’m thinking of fighting in late April if all goes well, but at the latest I’ll be fighting this summer anyway. Getting back to training is really helping me get out of my head with all the shit going on at home and of course it’s helping me get back in shape.

How are you doing?

Most likely in Burlington, VT but there’s another option in Salem, NH also. I’ll definitely keep everyone on here posted when I get my nose to the grindstone.

It really really wasn't

In fact some of the worst acting the world has ever seen was in the third film. I’m thinking of this in particular:

from wiki
The Star Wars sequel trilogy was a reportedly planned trilogy of films (Episodes VII, VIII and IX) by Lucasfilm as a series of sequels to the original Star Wars trilogy (Episodes IV, V and VI) released between 1977 and 1983.1 While the similarly discussed Star Wars prequel trilogy (Episodes I, II and III) was ultimately released between 1999 and 2005, Lucasfilm and George Lucas have for many years denied plans of making a sequel trilogy, insisting that Star Wars is meant to be a six-part series

i did a big research paper last term for an anthro class on cave art. cave paintings are numerous in europe but almost exclusive to france and spain with a few locations in england and the nordic. southern europe is not at all known for paintings, and something of that magnitude should have been mentioned in one of the books i had to read. not saying, im the be all, end all on cave art scholarship, just saying i don’t know how legit this one is.

*kailash temple

Historians take a look at the ancient temples and religious structures and merely try to attach a date to them without asking how
“primitive’ man managed to build and carve out buildings of this magnitude with "primitive’ tools, let alone asking how most
were built with a precise knowledge of astronomy and math. No one explains how in the first ‘civilized’ societies of Sumer and
Mesopotamia (now Iraq), major advancements in knowledge and ability built libraries, medical centers, observatories and awe-
inspiring building construction. All of a sudden Man found out the science of exact astronomy though they had no telescopes,
how to move boulders weighing more than even modern cranes can lift and how to carve rock so precise that the technique is
still unknown. Most of the temples and even the cities themselves were built using celestial alignments and their religions and
community belief systems are based on stories of gods from the sky and teachers that came from heaven. Why and how was
this use of astronomy and math so important to cultures across the world unless it was based in experiences that inspired it?

Ever heard of Venera 13?

http://photoshopnews.com/2006/09/12/old-soviet-images-of-venus-yield-fresh-surprises/
Old CCCP probe went to Venus back in the late 80’s. The lander touched down and lasted for about 2 hours before the temperatures destroyed the feedback of black and white photo’s. Check out these photo’s of the lander’s immediate perimeter and look at the small object near to it.

and again in this other image taken by the soviet Venus lander

the same object has traveled the berth of the lander and was tracked by the camera as it traveled.
Thanks for sharing the baltic sea object, I wonder what it is, who holds the territorial waters it’s under?

Here is a rule of thumb from Chinese martial arts: Hard strikes soft, soft strikes hard. In other words - use hard weapons (fists, albows, knees, fingertips) on soft targets like muscles, torso, eyes etc. Use soft weapons (palm, sole of the foot) to strike hard targets like the head, elbows and knees, and other bony surfaces.

Yup, it's got to be aliens.

They came, built stuff with their cosmic Legos, then went back home and stayed hidden from even the most powerful telescope- apart from forgetting their Millenium Falcon underwater.

Either that, or (from Wikipedia, Neolithic era):

Neolithic peoples in the Levant, Anatolia, Syria, northern Mesopotamia and Central Asia were also accomplished builders, utilizing mud-brick to construct houses and villages. At Çatal höyük, houses were plastered and painted with elaborate scenes of humans and animals. In Europe, long houses built from wattle and daub were constructed. Elaborate tombs were built for the dead. These tombs are particularly numerous in Ireland, where there are many thousand still in existence. Neolithic people in the British Isles built long barrows and chamber tombs for their dead and causewayed camps, henges, flint mines and cursus monuments.

Before the excavations began, it was assumed that permanent sedentary settlements would occur only in combination with the first farming of cereals, and the first domestication and keeping of animals such as sheep and goats, marking the start of the Neolithic period, part of a transition between the proto-Neolithic and Pre-Pottery Neolithic A cultures. However the remains of the structures uncovered at Tell Qaramel appear to be older than this, giving the first evidence of permanent stone-built settlement without signs of animal domestication or organised farming.34 Particularly striking are the remains of a succession of five round, stone-built towers, each over 6 metres in diameter, with stone walls over 1.5m thick. These have been carbon-dated to between the eleventh millennium and 9650 BC. This dating makes the towers roughly two thousand years older than the stone tower found at Jericho, which was previously believed to be the oldest known tower structure in the world.1

by Motmaitre on Feb 1, 2012 3:47 AM EST up reply actions

Cool story , fag

So we’re suppose to believe that cave men started building monolithic stone structures weighing tons and tons and tons before we even knew how to fucking farm ? I don’t see how we could go from just barely learning to cook meat and build fires and then all the sudden we can build huge stone cities . All that I’m saying is there is alot more to human history than meets the eye . The evidence is overwhelming that there is a huge piece of the puzzle that is misssing . Gobekli Tepe is at least 6,000 yrs older than any structure in Ireland .

The Annunciation (anglicised from the Latin Vulgate Luke 1:26-38 section title: Annuntiatio nativitatis Christi), also referred to as the Annunciation to the Blessed Virgin Mary or Annunciation of the Lord, is the Christian celebration of the announcement by the angel Gabriel to Virgin Mary, that she would conceive and become the mother of Jesus the Son of God.

The angel Gabriel came down in his spaceship from Venus and shot a death ray at the Virgin Mary carrying the subliminal message that she would give birth to Jesus. Then he put the spaceship into hyperdrive before Imperial troops could get him.

If you listen to Jason Martel or his mentor Zachariah Stitchin...

They talk about Nibiru and the Sumarians and how their religion is all about aliens coming down and creating human beings etc… etc.. Personally I think every now and again they bring up some decent points, but for the most part I think they’re both full of shit. Anyway, you notice the dude on the left with wings on his back.

So lets say someone does a drawing of an American Bald Eagle landing on the moon. Do they really mean a giant bird landed on the moon? No, they mean, the country, America got there first. Now apply that to the pic of the dude with wings on his back, does that mean this man literally has wings growing out of his back? Or is the artist trying to say “This man has mastered the power of flight.”

It’s an interesting take on it anyway..

There's a lot goin on in there

Interesting piece, you got the winged dude down on a knee next to some other dude/chick kneeling down but that person’s not lookin at where Mary is, they’re looking at the guy with the wings. It’s like he’s explaining something or teaching something to this other person. Even looks like Mary’s bowing toward the guy with the wings. Can’t tell what that little thing is on the beam of light between the top of Mary’s head and the wall of her house, but it looks like a bird? Then you notice one dude in the background hand over his eyes, lookin up at the sky like he’s tryin to find the source of the beam. A little kid peakin around a corner lookin toward where Mary is but nobody else in the painting seems to be paying any attention, just goin on about their regular business.

Would be interesting to get a real pro’s break down on this.

Those are in there but look at the bigger picture

Sex in general, more promiscuity, more multiple partners, less monogomy etc.. It’s becoming more common to see single parent family’s in movies or family’s that adopt as the center of the story. The shadowy govt. rogue agency is always overcome by the good govt. side, usually the FBI or the CIA or the hard working detective.

How many times have you seen COPS? Or CSI, or one of those other crime shows. You got to wonder how in the hell there is any such thing as an unsolved crime after watching that shit. Now don’t get me wrong, I know COPS is real footage but it’s the footage hand picked for people to see.

It’s rampant, you can’t get away from it, there’s always going to be some form of media there offering an opinion that most people are going to accept on a subconscious level. Even if they don’t realize what’s going on, you get bombarded by all these msg’s all the time everytime you sit down and watch a movie and something’s going to stick.

Just my take on it =P

Just don't ever get involved in your government, big brother will take care of you. Your elected officials always do what's in your best interest, there is no corruption in our government, good little sheep, just make yourself happy, just entertain yourself, the government is only here to entertain you and take care of you and feed you and make you happy, don't you worry your little head over world affairs.

Have you seen "Contagion"?

First, I just wanna say I thought from an entertainment standpoint that that movie was complete total garbage. Just notice how it goes, the outbreak spreads, the govt. steps in and the CDC saves the day with their vaccine that everyone needs to take. Then everyone ID’s themselves with a little bracelet to show they’ve taken it. The conspiracy theorist blogger turns out to be a lying scum bag, who’s advice is killing people for his personal financial gain.

It’s just full of bullshit.

Allow me to explain, Scotti :

Indy has gotten older and had a kid.

They had to evolve his character to coincide with the politics and pop culture of the 1950’s…

Sci-fi, Russians as the enemy and Greasers – Sweater vest geeks.

It was a good movie but nostalgia makes us poo poo it because it does not have the “magic” of the 1st 3.

Just my take.

Let the hateers hate, Randall

What you are proposing is that people actualy explain how these things came into occurence. The questioning is not a bad thing.

I have seen the majority of what you are talking about. There is a strong correlation in religions as well with the convergence of the great flood (Noah’s Ark anyone?) in Incan, Azteca, Judea, Norse, Hindu and Sumerian mythos. 6 separate cultures all supporting a grand event that happened around the globe. All have tennets that a “higher being” gave the knowledge how to build a craft that was able to withstand this great flood.

But I am going to borrow Charioys of the Gods from my local library if possible.

We do not claim to know how the heavy lifting and exquisite masonry was accomplished at Pumapunku, but that’s a far cry from saying we believe the Tiwanaku were incapable of it. We simply don’t have a record of what tools and techniques they used. All around the world are examples of stonemasonry from the period that is equally impressive. The Greek Parthenon, for example, was built a thousand years before Pumapunku, and yet nobody invokes aliens as the only explanation for its great beauty and decorative detailing that more than rivals Pumapunku’s angles and cuts. At about the same time, the Persians constructed Persepolis with its superlative Palace of Darius, featuring details that are highly comparable to Pumapunku. Stonemasons in India cut the Udayagiri Caves with megalithic doorways that are very similar to those in Pumapunku. The Tiwanaku did magnificent work, but by no means was it inexplicably superior to what can be found throughout the ancient world. It is unnecessary to invoke aliens to explain the structures.

Rockwall Success June 4, 1886 No. 19

THE MYSTERY SOLVED
The Rock Wall is Human Handiwork.

Wonders will never cease. Immediately after it was generally known that Mr. J. B. Burton had found the gigantic petrified skull, a large crowd collected and set about making an examination of the surrounding ground. Spades, picks, and axes were plentiful and in use. Mr. W. R. Grier might have been seen pounding the ground with a huge hammer, and intently listening after each successive blow, when he was heard to call out, "This way boys!" There was a general rush to his position. "Listen Boys," said Grier as he brought the hammer down with a heavy thump on a large flat rock.

To the astonishment of all, the hammer slipped from Grier’s hands, and after a short interval, was heard to strike something below that had the clear distinct ring of metal. Now the wildest excitement prevailed. A lantern and rope were quickly brought, and the earth was rapidly cleared away. The hole in the rock, which proved to be slate, was enlarged and the lantern was let down into the murky darkness. At last Messrs Burton, Grier and J. B. Steger volunteered to descend and explore the mystery. The cavity proved to be a chamber about 60×100 feet square, and 40 feet from the floor to the slate roof through which they had effected an entrance. This roof was supported on pillars of black marble, whose polished sides glittered in the lamplight and made one think of the orient.

This underground palace will undoubtedly astonish the world, when thoroughly explored. In one corner stands a large iron chest – supposed to be full of gold or valuables which was so heavy as to baffle all efforts to remove it. Among other things found was a huge iron bedstead, 25 feet long and a pair of sandals three feet wide by ten inches wide, a battle axe with a pole handle 12 feet long, which weighed at least 75 pounds. The explorers extended their investigation no further, but are sure that there are other rooms connected with the one visited. The noted rock wall from which our county takes its name runs in a few gards (yards) of this palace. This we think settles that mystery. All surrounding circumstances go to show that this goliath built the rock wall to enclose his vast estate. Another visit has been made, the result of which your correspondent has not yet ascertained. - Sam Slick

Old cave paintings and crop circles prove nothing

Was fiction not invented when they were created? Maybe painting space ships on an ancient cave wall was the equivalent of that summer’s blockbuster movie.

Stories of vampires date back centuries. Does that mean there were vampires back then?

Here is a rule of thumb from Chinese martial arts: Hard strikes soft, soft strikes hard. In other words - use hard weapons (fists, albows, knees, fingertips) on soft targets like muscles, torso, eyes etc. Use soft weapons (palm, sole of the foot) to strike hard targets like the head, elbows and knees, and other bony surfaces.

The Mongols never really ruled after they left. The left figureheads in place to warn of impending doom, again, if they got out of line

but they traveled to kill. Not for resources, they had plenty. To prove they were better. The Mongol Horde was the single greatest fighting force the world has ever seen.

I remember reading that like 15 countires became vassals as opposed to getting decimated on the battlefield.

Tha Spartans lost as many wars as they won. It would be complete and utter decimation by the Mongols.

Alexander the Great's Macedonian/Greek's woulda whooped them.

It’s thought that prior to his death, Alexander was in the initial stages of making plans to move on Rome.

If he survived and saw those plans through, things could’ve been so much different today.

Although maybe not too much, seeing as how the Romans adopted much of what the Greeks had in place anyway…

World history took a huge hit when the Mongols invaded Mesopotamia.

Basically when they invaded and pillaged, they went into what at the time was the world’s largest and most celebrated library and threw all the books into the Tigris river. It is said that the river ran black with all the ink for the next 6 months.

Remember, nothing is out of reach. Develop a plan, work the process, and achieve your goals. Begin, now!
