Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 13 winner Tony Ferguson looks to continue his undefeated run through the UFC lightweight division when he makes a trip to the "Garden State" later this year to battle longtime veteran Dennis Hallman at the UFC on Fox 3 event booked for May 5, 2012, from the IZOD Center in East Rutherford.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) officials announced the bout late last night.
Ferguson (13-3) graduated at the top of his TUF class by beating the brakes off fellow finalist Ramsey Nijem. That set up a jaw-breaking win over Aaron Riley followed by a unanimous decision victory over the venerable Yves Edwards.
Can "El Cucuy" scare up another "W" in Dirty Jersey?
Standing in his way will be Hallman (51-14-2), who ruffled a few feathers in his 2011 fight campaign.
"Superman" was kicked out of the welterweight division by Brian Ebersole in a bout that saw him unveil the dreaded banana hammock. He returned to the Octagon as a lightweight opposite John Makdessi, but struggled in his attempt to make weight, marring his dominating win over the previously undefeated "Bull."
Could a loss to Ferguson earn him his walking papers?
UFC on FOX 3 will be headlined by a lightweight fight featuring Jim Miller vs. Nate Diaz. The victor is widely-expected to move on to face the winner of Frankie Edgar vs. Ben Henderson, who compete next month at UFC 144 in Japan.
