UFC on FOX 2 ratings are in, peak for Rashad Evans vs Phil Davis main event
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) stormed the United Center last Saturday night (Jan. 28, 2012) in Chicago, Illinois, giving mixed martial arts (MMA) fans another helping of network televised fights courtesy of its UFC on Fox 2 primetime special.
But was anybody watching?
According to estimates from FOX Sports Research, the network is "expected to win the night among Adults 18-49 by a wide margin, and may beat ABC, CBS and NBC combined in the Adults 18-34 demographic" thanks to a 2.7 household overnight rating (5 share), a +42% increase from the previous four weeks of FOX's Saturday night primetime offerings.
Here is the time slot breakdown:
Demian Maia vs. Chris Weidman: 2.3 rating with a 4 share.
Chael Sonnen vs. Michael Bisping: 2.9 rating with a 5 share.
Rashad Evans vs. Phil Davis: 3.4 rating with a 6 share.
Evans secured his place as light heavyweight number one contender with a five round unanimous decision win over Davis while Sonnen also booked himself for a future middleweight title fight against Anderson Silva by outpointing Michael Bisping. Weidman huffed and puffed his way to a split decision against Maia in the opening fight of the night.

3.4% of Nielson households were watching UFC on Fox…In other words 3.4% of the houses in the sample were watching. Obviously, not everyone watches TV at the same time, so they didn’t have 100% of Nielson households plugged in on Saturday night. Out of everyone that had their TV on 6% of them were watching UFC on Fox.
Clear as mud?
Fighters fight. Snitches Snitch.
im pretty sure they were hoping it would of done better ..
so this guy comes to my apartment complex every morning to collect cans and then crushes them .. turns out the guy's name is fedor
2 week sig beat goldmouth/evans nightmare/davis
surely
but a 42% increase in viewership from one weekend to the next is a big deal.
Fighters fight. Snitches Snitch.
yeah but a show on fox should do way better then a show on fx .. especially with fn spike counter programming these fs .. its so fn stupid .. spike shows more ufc stuff now then they had a deal with the ufc .. ufc was the only reason i watched fn spike .. although blue mountain state is pretty funny.

Nah, a 42% increase from FOX's last 4 weekends viewers.
That’s good to any CEO.

right, that's why you want to see an increase over ufc on fox 1
You want to see an increase after every broadcast to see if you are gaining new fans/viewers.
so even the wwe pulls better ratings being on cable?
this is just fucking sad
pride never die.
well its funny, because did you notice what was on fox before and after these fights?
infomercials, sitcom re-runs…if the UFC wasnt on, it would be just some bullshit programming. Not sure what the huge deal is with the fox network and Saturday night fights..its not like it is competing with other top programming.
Fox also shows local pro wrestling, which they advertise during the UFC broadcast…
the mexican fox channel was showing soccer before the fights
and followed up with an espn’s sportcenter of sorts
pride never die.
Your ignorence is sad
WWE has been around alot longer then the UFC so naturally they would have more fans in the U.S
Interesting
Its interesting to see the ratings go up as the show went on. I wasn’t sure if lots of casual fans would tune out after seeing a dreadful fight in Weidman/Maia, and a slower paced, grinding Sonnen victory.
Like my post? Well, follow me on Twitter anyways. @LenBarson
seems like the general viewers are really only interested in the main event which is why it peaked with rashad/phil
i admit, i switched channels from maia fight and bouts before it. i only really tuned in with sonnen and evans fights.
That's ufck fans in a nutshell, only wanna see the main events and buy ppvs based on the main events
Not only ufck fans, but American fans in general, ever notice at a concert/ fight/ anything that the arena/stadium gets packed at the end? If I pay for something, I get there early and get every cent of my dollar worth, don’t understand fickle fans

Numbers slightly down from the first UFC on Fox
Of course, the first one had Lesnar, so I don’t know if it’s such a bad thing.
you think people tuned in to see lesnar talk?

I think it is just easier to sell the HWs
Also, don’t underestimate how important combat sports can be to many in the latino community. Cain was a big draw.
Fighters fight. Snitches Snitch.
oh no i totally agree that the heavyweights and cain being on it had a lot to do with the good ratings
but i disagree that people tuned in because brock was gonna be onboard as an analyst

again with the USA chants. this isnt wwe.
sonnen looked horrible and somehow got a 30-27 score? Good showing by Bisping and i dont like the guy. not a good choice in fights for casual fans because it was obvious all of the fights would go the distance. jones reading off his notes the entire time looked bad. randy was good just didnt gel with the other 2. glad i pvr’d it with all the commercials my god.
the chants happen everywhere
Brazil, UK, Ireland, Germany, all have cheered for their countrymen during the fights, what the hell is the big deal? The Brazilian fans chant “you’re gonna die” to the guys fighting Brazilian fighters, isn’t that worse than chanting USA?
"If guns cause crime then all of mine are defective."
that's personal opinion
quit trying to make an issue out of nothing, much more important shit to worry about.

I'm happy as hell with all these FREE fights!
I’ve been dishing out a fair sum of money for going on 2 decades to watch the UFC and as much as I hate all the commercials and repetitive commentation, I am still happy as a pig in mud to not have to pay for so many fights. With so many complaints, they are bound to step-up the production value, soon. At least, I hope! Either way, my ass will be parked in front of a screen for every Fuel/Fox fight they produce!
Man, I need a new sig!

Fox should be happy
Obviously, Sat. night is not a good night for Fox. So, they should want to get as many UFC fights as possible on their channel.
